Trolled a spammer in the for sale section

So John, where do you take it from here? I'm thinking tell him you aren't comfortable with a wire transfer and would prefer to use PayPal.

I added kindly and escrow to the latest email.

I wonder how often you have a scammer trying to get money and another scammer trying to get stuff from the guy trying to get money.

John, this is hilarious. :)

BTW, has the ad been deleted? (I couldn't find it.)

Do you "know a guy" that can deliver a grocery sack of cash and pick up the unit?

Thanks, I am kind of enjoying it!!

I think I am going to sign the agreement and send it to him now, he'll eat that up, I'll post it.

Yeah, it was deleted after the first day, he's still got the unit though! LOL

The ad was brought to our attention as a scam, and we deleted the thread and you may note the original poster had an ejection handle pulled on his/her behalf. ;)

Are you going to sign it as just "John" with no last name? ;)

Does anyone have a screen capture of the ad? Just curious to see what it looked like.

I have several checking accounts, so if he had info on the one with $100 in it I would not be concerned.

True. It depends on your specific financial setup, etc.

Of course if you send a truly fake check then that could arguably be scamming as well.

Banks use a system that is analogous to credit reporting, but for checking/banking called ChexSystems. Unlike credit reporting, this system is kept largely hidden from the public, and if you get a bad "checking score" it can be impossible to fix it.

I don't he copied the pictures and serial numbers from an auction on Ebay. He was asking $6300 and the bid on Ebay was 7800! LOL

Tell him you'd prefer to pay in precious metals, and that you'll ship him a couple of bars of gold. Then ship him a box of gold-painted bricks, COD.

John,

At $3k, I'm interested, so if you don't take it, let me know... ;-)
I'll kindly let you have it for $2500, just wire me the money today and I will forward the item to you when I receive it! LOL

Signed the "agreement" and told him I am nervous and want to know if he uses Pay pal!!

I feel sad. I haven't received an email from a former Nigerian prince seeking help to remove money from his country for a long time now.

Shouldn't someone else email him now and offer $4500?

"Dear Sir,

Thank you for the kindly offer to sell me this unit for $4500. I have now found a secondary purchaser who is willing to pay $5000 for the unit. We can therefore share an additional $250 each. If you were to kindly send me a check for $500 to complete this transaction, I will send your $250 directly to you.

Best regards,
B. Dog"

Well today he's changed states!! He's in California!! He must move around a lot!! I am starting to get bored with this, but it's still fun!!

How did you know it was a scam at the start? Somehow I missed that part.

I like the "edited" "contract", lol.
Also seems like he completely ignored your request to use paypal...wonder why

"Dear Sir,

As I have been a victim of false sales many times in the past, I am becoming wary of this transaction. Please to kindly include a photograph of you holding a sign that says "Garmin for Harambe" so that I know you are serious.

Best regards,
B. Dog"

I wonder if the account information in that email is enough to pull money OUT of the account?

Not that I would do that, because it would be illegal, but it's fun to fantasize about!

I think he covered that in post #60.
Maybe I'm slow, but how could you tell he either wasn't the same seller or won it on eBay? Other than having a lower price.

Just to be clear, it's obviously a scam, I'm just trying to understand how it was determined at the start.

He used pictures from a current EBay ad! The original post is gone, he's getting ****y now!!

At some point, you should tell him you wired the money!
