Holy Hole in a Donut Batman!

Seems the iconic TV Batman has left Gotham forever.

Sad. One of my favorite memories of childhood afternoon TV (it was syndicated for us 60's kids)

On a lighter note:

The real Batman.

This was THE show to watch, it came on right after the Munsters....

I had a Batman lunch box, wish I still had it.

God bless, Mr. West.

Sad and I agree. As much as I love the Christopher Nolan movies, Adam West was Batman.

The Munsters! That was one of my favorites! I bought a season of it on eBay a few years back. They don't make shows like those anymore!

Remember Dragnet?

Dragnet:

SGT Friday: Your under arrest...

Clean cut well dressed teenager with hair slightly longer than a crew cut: Under arrest? What for?

SGT Friday: Your under arrest for endangerment of leading a disillusioned lifestyle.

Officer Gannon takes notes in his little pocket note book, then looks up at SGT Friday. Both nod heads knowing Los Angeles is safe for another day.

sponsored by: Chesterfield cigarettes.

Dragnet was great.!!

Loved Dragnet and Perry Mason. But my favorite shows back then were the old westerns like The Rifleman, Rawhide, Have Gun Will Travel, Gunsmoke, etc. I was never much of a fan of Batman or Superman or other super hero shows.

Yes it was! Both shows were out before my time, but my dad and I used to watch them together as a kid, back when TV was actually good.

Loved both shows, had both lunch boxes.

And the Batman Movie was the first one I want too all by myself riding my bike to the theatre. Plus I had a major crush on Julie Newmar.

(Turns off the power to the Bat Signal)

For fun, find the Stan Freberg versions of Dragnet... "St. George and the Dragonet", and "Little Blue Riding Hood".

The legend you are about to hear is true
Only the needle should be changed to protect the record

Damn, Mike, I'm old enough to remember all that. Watched Dragnet religiously, but those detectives never busted heads like Dirty Harry did. Those were fun days. Reminiscing in my old age. TV back then was programmed by saints, or so we were lead to believe. Take me back to the days of "Gunsmoke" and "Wyatt Earp". Ed Sullivan and the Beatles first performance on US TV was an event. Pining for the old days. :D

Loved Dragnet and Perry Mason.

As a matter of fact, my son and I are watching a Perry Mason dvd at this very moment.

Several good Westerns back in the day, but I think my fave was Wild Wild West. Robert Conrad and Ross Martin - best feds every.

Anybody else remember Sea Hunt? One of my favorites as a kid, and partly why I learned to dive when I got older. I loved that it was filmed here in Florida, at Silver Springs.

Some of the 70s shows were great, too. Carol Burnett (Tim Conway and Harvey Korman were hysterical!), Bob Newhart, Mary Tyler Moore, MASH,....

Too many folks gone now. Adam West will be missed.

Adam West also played Mayor Adam West in the Family Guy series.

I remember going across the street to my neighbor's house when the show came on because they had color tv. Most still had black and white then. At least in my neighborhood.

You couldn't remake that show today. Too incorrect. But it sure was funny.

Back ever farther was "Highway Patrol" with Broderick Crawford. Remember that one?

And two of the best theme songs ever to grace broadcast TV. But let's not forget Hawaii Five-0.

Nauga,
and Jimmy Neutron

Hawaii Five-O was a good show....The one with Jack Lord and his hair....

I like the Brian Setzler version of the theme song. I couldn't find the version I was looking for. But this one is close.

I like the Brian Setzler version of the theme song.
Hard to beat Dick Dale at his own game but I do like The Brian Setzer Orchestra.

Nauga,
with hillbillies, rockabillies, psychobillies, and squidbillies

My favorite show as a kid !
Who was your favorite Catwoman - Ertha Kitt or Julie Newmar ?
Hands down Julie Newmar for me. I think I got my first stiffy looking at her !

Julie Newmar.... but Eartha did have her own brand of purrrrrfect smokey hotness in the roll. Maybe it was the way she rolled her R's just so...

Always wished the Williams Street Studios would have done something with Adam West, George Lowe (voice of Space Ghost), and Patrick Warburton as Brock Sampson.

Not long ago Warner Bros made a Batman cartoon in the style of the TV show, with the voices of Adam West, Burt Ward, and Julie Newmar. By Odin they sounded old. You could hear it in their voices despite the youth of the animated characters.

Any chance it's available to view online or stream?

A documentary is available on iTunes. Might be on other outlets too, but I didn't check.
