{NA} Question about the backdoor {NA}

They make a "door sweep" that you can attach to the inside of the storm door which can be adjusted to whatever height you need to cover for that gap. You could install in less than 10 minutes.

It has one and it sucks. I've never had a storm door that seals well.
I want to get rid of the storm door completely.

Did u consider one of these?

If you remove the main door and take it to a local door store, they should be able to do all the tweaking for you. They will route and drill out the hinge plates lock holes to match the original. Then you just paint it and hang it. My only problem was that I didn't have a storm door so when I took the door out, I had a big hole in the wall that I sealed with ugly looking plastic for a day.

Talk to a door shop about making a communicating door. That's what you see in between adjacent hotel rooms where you hang two doors on a common frame. In your case make the inner door your security door or open that and have a second insulated exterior door that has a dog door in it. Good quality dog doors use magnetic seals and they work great for bugs and breezes but not so well for human intruders. The inside door fixes that. Operable window inserts or internal mini blinds? Your choice.

I think my problem is solved. I'm getting that one @ifly4fun posted. That's what I wasn't exactly.

The only issue now is it does not look like it's plug-and-play. This looks like I'm going to have to remove the trim which means I'm going to have to replace the trim and then I'm going to have to beat the Wall around it which means this is a larger project than 4 hours on a Saturday

I can't remember the brand, but we have a dog door with 2 flaps that have magnets around them to help hold them shut. Never had a problem with bugs.

Argh. I linked to a joke about hot chocolate, but I guess it doesn't come through on mobile; skip to 4m50s.

I usually don't se that at the backdoor. Perhaps you should troll a better neighborhood?

Note: I don't have one at this house, but I wish I did. Problem is I have birds of prey and other predators that would love to snack on my precious Pomeranian.

We have bald eagles. One of them picked up our friends Pomeranian but had to abort this overgross takeoff and dropped the little rat into their fish-pond. Dog had some interesting claw marks and needed stitches (and counseling).

ditch the big dogs and get one of them rat-dogs that come off the floor when they bark.... just let him go in and out the dryer vent....
Just an idea

I like giant dogs. I don't have to bend down to pet them

Small dogs don't bark more or less than large dogs. Your being a moronic size-ist.

Oddly, you're not alone. Most everyone that meets Autumn is surprised how quiet she is.

Almost as quiet as she is cute.IMG_0488.JPG

this is gonna go sideways soon

You could get a new weatherstrip for the bottom of that door.

I'm with Matthew. Get something like this and screw it into the bottom of your storm door:

Are you sure the threshold is level? It seems warped in the middle to me, but if it's not the threshold, then it's the door. Nothing a belt sander can't fix... (or screw up worse)

[Edit] Never mind - you bought a whole new door. And door frame. And now you have to shim that thing! But the dogs will love you for it!

Same here. Here's a horrible photo of me petting the big guy and "little" girl. I went downstairs and told Karen to shoot a photo showing his size and apparently my jeans pant leg had caught in the top of my cowboy boot even.

LOL. Whatever. He's a big dude. He walks up and pokes me in the belly when he wants attention. I'm 5' 11" and that's a 70" TV on the wall behind us for kinda "scale".

I hadn't seen your pups before. The Shepherd looks massive. Awesome dogs.

Question Diy-ers
MUTHA********** previous owners textured / painted over wallpaper.

LAZY A**es!

I am installing the door tonight and will be left with some bare drywall.
Not enough to warrant renting the hopper / compressor. Lets call it 5 SqFt.

I am looking for a smaller solution but maybe not this small. I feel like this stuff always sort of looks like half assed even when you paint over it.

Is there a more professional solution that is recommended for smaller jobs?

All that effort when some crack-spacle would have solved the issue with your backdoor.

Wet wanted a new back door.
I have no interest in having a storm door and a back door it sucks that I have to keep the back door open all the time so that the dogs can use the dog door inside the storm door. All the sunlight is always pouring in that storm door and our main door is always open and scraping against our kitchen table. There was no question we were going to replace our back door and get rid of a storm door. It didn't help that the storm door will never seal as well as an actual main door and so we were also getting bugs and spiders and all that fun stuff too

If the original primary door had not been glass all the way to the bottom we would have just kept it and put the dog door in that and never added the storm door

Don't ruin it for us! LOL

6PC, just think. If you had a cat instead of dogs, you wouldn't have to go to so much trouble.

Oh God! My kids are begging for a cat but I'm quite allergic. I like cats too.
