I need to get from Atlanta to Tampa tomorrow. I'll be empty so no time requirements. It's a single engine piston. It says it has XM weather but for whatever reason, it never works. So, I'll have no weather capability. What are my chances of making it? 1%? 0%? -3,000%?

The plan is for an 8am departure out of Tampa on Thurs. back to Atlanta. + 3 more legs.

What say you?

As long as u r not pre-CFII-hire stage, the direct to is less than 1500 nm, carrying survival gear, don't care about icing, and not Carrying something for your business...and have some donuts ... u r good . Oh, don't get caught after landing on parking lot when u r drunk, taxiway is fine.

What did I miss?

Atlanta International Airport Information Charlie.... Wind variable at 200... Altimeter 25.94... caution... tornado activity in the vicinity of the airport...

I just discovered the aopa flight planner, let's check it out. Lots of pretty colored dots:

I'm thinking 11,000 should get me over most of the stuff. I'll probably have a 100kt+ headwind but I have enough gas.

Don't go over...just stay on the downwind side of the rotation through that hole you identified and it will fling you across and you will need less gas with an awesome ground speed.

It worked on Star Trek with the Sun...same concept...should work...please video the flight.

Thursday isn't looking much better either. No tstorms but it's gonna be real windy.

Of course I'll vi- I mean my passenger will video.

Since I always fly LOP, could you imagine the possibilities? I'd burn maybe 5 gallons getting to Tampa.

what the heck, man. I need to fly these people.

You get off on time? Beautiful day in Atlanta this AM. :(

Wx actually affects your ADM? It doesn't stop the mail, so why let it stop you? :dunno:

Negative. Stuck in my house watching the radar.

I was hoping for some kind of lull in the storm but its just wave after wave after wave. This evening doesnt look much better and once night comes, I doubt ill be going anywhere.

Ha! I don't think I can compete with the mail. Those people are fearless.

Are you still in Atlanta? Saturday looks promising for flying here. Gusts are hitting 35 knots nearby.

They are definitely not afraid to lose my mail, and I'm mean about it, so I guess that makes them fearless indeed!

Today would've been just fine to fly, just windy, but it would have been a tailwind flying south. I actually could have made that flight non-stop in my C150 today.
I decided to hang around for one more day, because that wind would be headwind for me (I'm flying back from Tampa to ATL), and 6 hours in 30kts winds is not very fun.

Ive been flying all day today. Sunrise to sunset. Still not home.

Nasty winds here at ILM. 25 G37, 40 degrees off of the runway.

Key West tomorrow...

Tired. Worn out. Someone else do this for me.
