Closed Central Texas Pilots - Free Photos

I haven't forgotten those of you who reached out to me. I think 6 of you took me up on the offer and we just need to find a good patch of weather. Took some pics of a fiend of mine today. Ready for more.

In addition to the weather, I've been looking for a good time to go down there. How's next week looking??

7500!!
Nice pictures, as usual.
At first I thought it was the club tur-Bo from Georgetown but it is not. Though it looks as beautiful (with nice shiny paint).
I know of 2 other people with Bo's who might take you up on your offer. And me too one day. Maybe after the other cold front? (to ensure minimum haze for the photoshoot)

You gonna be at the crawfish boil on Sat? We're coming for sure.

Next week should be good. Hard to know the wx, but I'm available. If the wx is good, I've got two fly-ins coming up the last two weekends of the month, but nothing saying I can't get up and shoot some early morning photos while at a fly-in! Fort Parker near Mexia is the 21st.

I plan to be there. If I remember correctly, I think you had trouble getting up early enough for photos!

You Austin pilots have all the fun. Pinching tail and suckin head is good eats!
Come on down!

I've got to put a hold on adding people to the free photo list for now. I've had a great response and because of bad weather, I'm way behind. Everyone that has reached out to be so far, I still want to do a photo shoot with you. Let's start getting them scheduled as soon as we can. If I take on too many more people right now I'll be letting some of you down trying to get you scheduled.

As of now, I have Robert S., Dean (Commander 114), Andy (Tango II), Ross (172), Kat (Grumman), Peyton (KEDC), Aggie Mike (182 & V35)

Are you strictly weekends? Or during the week as well?
I can do weekdays. It's easier in the afternoons, close to sunset, but I can go into my day job a little late too!

Looks like high pressure through the weekend.

Let me see if I can get down there if you're available.

I am, but make sure the let me know when. We're having crawfish boil on Saturday, that you're welcome to attend, but that tends to involve a little drinking on my part!

Sign me up Jack. I am at KBMQ
I'll let you know when I'm able to get caught up. As of now, I've stopped adding people to the list. I'm behind with 7 people waiting for good weather!

These are amazing! Better than most of the paid offers I see in other forums!

I'm based out of Hicks (T67) with a Bonanza. I only get to visit her occasionally, but would gladly buy you breakfast or lunch if you ever had time to take pictures. :)

Thank you! I'll let you know if I can ever get around to doing another free shoot. I will eventually, just not sure when. I've still got 6 or 7 left to do from this offer! Weather hasn't been good lately in Texas. Hoping to get caught up in the next couple of weeks.

I don't know about you, but the few weekends we've had over here with good weather, I discover a new mx issue...

I haven't had those issues, but it seems even when it's good, it's either not good for long, or with little notice. Some of these people will be flying several hours to meet up with me, and I need them here before sunrise, or 1.5 hours before sunset! I'm finding this is hard to plan!

I've got a friend with a 170 who is wanting to put a lot of hours on it soon. We may take the show on the road!

Oshkosh is right around the corner and I need the practice before heading that way.

I need to wrap up those of you I took on for free photos. I've got a new camera that needs a workout. I'm now doing most of my flying in a 170 so I'm a little faster than I was in the 140. I will start sending you emails to see if we can get you scheduled. As of right now, I can be free almost any morning or evening. We need to shoot at sunrise (6:15 launch), or starting an hour before sunset (7:30 PM launch).

Let's get this done!

When/if you start taking names again, please consider putting mine down. I base out of KGKY north of you and can make overnight plans so either evening or morning sorties would work.

What type of kit are you using?

I bought my previous Cessna 140 in Arlington! I'm not sure what you mean by what type of kit. I shoot with a Canon 5D Mark IV and a 70-200 F2.8 IS ii lens most of the time. Lately I'm shooting from a Cessna 170, but also have access to a 210 for faster planes.

Nice setup, beats my little Rebel Ti hands down. Unfortunately for me, the Ti in auto mode still takes better pictures than I do. :)

Why did you stop charging for aerial photos?

Why did you stop charging for aerial photos?
I needed to build my portfolio for the EAA. I was trying to get in to OSH as an official photographer and it worked. I'm charging now, just finishing up those who took me up on the free offer.

I'm bringing this offer back. I want some photos over the next few weeks as the last of the leaves change colors. We don't get the dramatic changes other areas get, but it still looks nice.
If you missed the offer last time, jump in quickly. For now, I'll accept up to 5 planes, so jump in quickly. If you don't get to me in the first 5 requests, I'll put you on a backup list. I had a quite a few people drop out on the last offer.

Email me at: jackfleetwood(at)yahoo.com if you're interested. Be sure to include your POA name!
  • The best photos are within 1 hour of sunrise or sunset. I've had pilots whine to me about having to get up early. God was not willing to adjust sunrise just for me. Maybe you have more pull!
  • Sunrise is 6:57AM, so plan to be at T74 around 6:30AM at the latest. Sunset is 5:30PM, so you would need to arrive no later than 4PM so we can be off the ground by at least 4:30. Assume we will fly an hour.
  • If it's cloudy and we can't get on top, it won't be good for photos. I need light. We will reschedule.
  • You will get full-resolution photos. You'll have to print them yourself, but I have an excellent source for great quality at low prices. You can print them as big as posters and they'll look good.
  • I don't care if you're from Central Texas as long as you can get here! I'm based at Taylor, TX T74 - unless we work something else out, we'll start from there. You can see my photos in the terminal if you're in the area.
  • There is a Best Western next to the airport if you're not comfortable flying at night. It gets dark early. Also, if you've never done this before, it can be exhausting. If you're spending the night, we've been known to sit around my hangar and drink a few Thirsty Goat beers as @Anymouse can tell you!
If we've emailed about this offer before and just didn't get it worked out, I'll shoot you another email today.

Why does it ALWAYS have to be about the goats!?!?!

Seriously, right now I'm regretting extending over here until January. I would have loved to have flown the T-Craft down there.

Guilty as charged. I've been super busy these last few months. Let's talk off-line about finishing my shoot. Your photography is amazing!

Jack
If you still have a slot please add me. Also, please let us know when the 2018 calendar is available. I’d like to get one

You're number 5 Gary! Shoot me an email at jackfleetwood(at)yahoo.com and we'll work out the details.

For you and everyone else who has decided to join me in this adventure, please take a few minutes to read the Briefing Page on my website - Click Here. We will still brief you before the flight, but this will give you some good tips.

I've got one paying customer out of state that I'm trying to work out a schedule with, then I'll get all of you guys in fairly quickly. I just don't want to double book anyone.

The first of the calendars I ordered arrived Saturday. As expected the photos are awesome but I was pleasantly surprised by how high the quality is for the price. Everything is printed on heavy stock and the photos are high resolution

Fellow pilots, I strongly recommend Jacks calendar. They would look great on any wall
