Curious on a poll if you used WingX? I have both, and they have strong benefits. Would like to know thoughts on your preferences.

Have both, used both. Currently use FF more due to their briefing tool and new Aero vector map view.

I used FF for a year (almost 4 years ago now). When my first year's subscription was up, I looked at WingX. They had split screen capability that FF did not (at the time). I switched and then bought a 3 year subscription because of the savings. Now I'm coming up on renewal and will reevaluate.

I started with ForeFlight, but after a long trip comparing both base versions side by side, I changed over to WingX. WingX seemed to me to be easier to read and navigate in a bouncing plane with less than optimum screen viewing conditions. Comparing the base versions, WingX has far more features and is a better bang for the buck. If you upgrade to the full blown versions, then they both have a comparable feature set and ForeFlight is pretty nice.

They are both great programs and they each have their strong points. I don't think you could go wrong using either. It is really more of a matter of personal preference.

Most will say Ford Vs Chevy...Tried them both, liked WingX a lot better, seemed better for me at least, I would say FF is more popular though. Then again, I have an Android phone and it seems a lot more people have iPhones....

The search function is your friend.

Loads of info on all four of the major apps.

Even with wing X being free for me as a CFI, I still spend the 170ish a year for FF, it's just very well finished and works for my mission, using it everyday for work, it's just worth the extra cash.

I came across both 6 years ago when they were the only two EFBs out there. In fact no one had even coined the term EFB yet. I went to an early iPad seminar where they, as I recall, focused on WingX. Otoh I had a friend who was already using ForeFlight. Neither had anything near the functionality they both have today. I got the 30 trial for both, compared them, and simply found the FF interface more to my liking.

I still use FF as my primary, maintain familiarity with WingX, think they are both excellent apps, and still firmly believe the only poll worth anything is one you do with yourself by comparing what is out there.

Tried them both, but neither had an AoO indicator, so I deleted it.

FF but have nothing to compare to. Went with the free trial and never looked back. In aviation dollars it's cheap for me to have what I like.

Please update the poll to include Garmin Pilot, FlyQ and most importantly None of the above.

WingX. When I got it I had a Garmin 396 w/ XM weather. I wanted to move to ADS-B weather, WingX did it and FF did not (at the time), nor did FF have a timeline for when they would. Since FF only supports Stratus I would now have to buy a new ADS-B receiver to switch apps. They made that move very expensive, so I haven't moved. I'm happy with WingX. It's easy to use. I love the split/dual page abilities. I don't often split page, but do use two pages and flip back-and-forth.

I understand including the many other EFB options but I don't understand the importance of "none of the above." Wouldn't that be something like a poll asking what flavor ice cream people prefer and including "I like to drink Starbuck's coffee" as an option?

FF tried wing X but they seemed to always be late to the game.

Started with FF, switched to WingX several years ago. I have the subscription with all the bells & whistles, and a Radenna Skyradar-D with levil AHRS. I love it! Almost don't need the regular instrument panel...(JK)

Where's the both or neither option?

Loyal Foreflight user since the first iPad came out. Recently I've been using Garmin Pilot a lot more. It integrates well with my Garmin panel.

I've never cared for WingX. Very clunky interface. That doesn't matter to some but it matters to me.

However, I give kudos to the founder for supporting Stratux and offering the product for free to CFIs.
