Autoreplicate. The only term I could think of. Maybe it's more of a 'bounce', I want - but that term is already used for failed messages.

I have a phone service which will send me a text or email when I miss a call or when there is a VM left.
Only problem is they will only send it to one text and one email. I need to send it to one more text or possibly an email.
Is there anyway to take my incoming message and automatically, immediately, have that message shoot back out to another recipient?

I know, I don't ask for much and you will get right on it. :D Thanks!

The easy way is to create a group email on the mail server and have the service send it to that group.

Not sure if repeating is doable on SMS (or whatever the current Text format is).

I'm sure @denverpilot will be along shortly with a more complete answer. He's in the biz, ya know.

Yeah, "distribution list" or "alias" or "group" depending on which brand flavor of email server you're on. What are you using David?

You could also create a rule on your mailbox to forward it.

If using forward rules, be sure they are 'server side' so the rule kicks in regardless of your online status.

The idea of bouncing a text to multiple text recipients is not doable?
That would be much preferable. If not, we'll look at email.

I know I can send a text from an email so maybe that would work!

Not implemented in most user's SMS clients due to the possibility of creating a huge bill for someone back when we all paid for SMS messaging.

Plus your device would have to not be dead to do the forwarding. No carrier wants to make an interface to do it on their servers either. They don't know if those people want texts from you and a FEW still pay per text.

But the workaround as you've figured out, is the email to SMS gateways all of the carriers offer.

You probably have a useful reason for wanting to do it, but I'd want off of any group SMS like one second after I received the first one. Call me or send an email.

If you have developer friends, they could write you an application that could do mass SMS through services like Twilio.

Set up a free Gmail email address account.

Send the one message from phone service to that new address.

Set up autoforwarding to wherever you want it to go in account settings.

Email to text:

Just substitute a 10-digit cell number for 'number' for each carrier below:
  1. AT&T: number@txt.att.net.
  2. T-Mobile: number@tmomail.net.
  3. Verizon: number@vtext.com.
  4. Sprint: number@messaging.sprintpcs.com or number@pm.sprint.com.
  5. Virgin Mobile: number@vmobl.com.
  6. Tracfone: number@mmst5.tracfone.com.
  7. Metro PCS: number@mymetropcs.com.

Rather than a new email account, is there any way to set up forwarding on my current email?
I can access email on Yahoo.com (it's an sbcglobal.net account), but mostly I use Seamonkey to see email.

There's server side forwarding rules and client side.

Best to do it at the server whenever possible. Client side rules don't operate when the client is powered off or not connected.

Problem is, what you want is not to forward only, but to forward AND still deliver. Don't know if that's an option, but forwarding appears to be.

The article is about forwarding SBCGlobal accounts to GMail, but replace GMail with your SMS gateway address and the basic forward is the same.

Don't know if you can both forward and deliver, though. You'd have to ask them, or look in the user interface for that feature.
