I just renewed my ESET NOD32 antivirus for a seventh year. That's longer than I've used any other antivirus.

My experience has been that antivirus companies and their software all have their "golden ages," after which they start to get ****ty. Sometimes they start missing malware, other times they get bloated and buggy; but one way or the other, antivirus companies seem to have a remarkable gift for taking something good and diddling it until it becomes something ghastly.

That hasn't been the case with ESET. It hasn't missed anything in the six years I've been using it. It's stopped me dead in my tracks a few times when reputable sites I tried to visit had become infected with malware or grayware, but it still manages to maintain a small footprint and doesn't slow down any of the computers I have it installed on.

The previous record-holder was Trend. I used it for five years before it started getting too bloated and clunky for my liking, at which time I switched to ESET. But I did have occasion to install Trend for a relative not long ago, and it seems like they've slimmed it down again. If ESET ever starts ****ing me off, I'll probably give Trend another shot.

But for now, I've re-upped with ESET for another year.

I have been using it for 5 years, and I am planning on renewing it again when it is up for renewal.

I haven't used a 3rd party anti-virus program in years.

I just browse with Sandboxie and then run the occasional MSE scan. No issues whatsoever.

Is it only 32bit or is it 64?

I wish they were still around... the original members, I mean. :(

Three are, Ed King, Artis, and Gary. Gary only original playing though. But I agree, wish the original band was around.
