NA simple iphone request seems impossible

iphone 4 IOS 7.1.2
Want to delete all the songs from the phone (taking up too much space)
And, insert a playlist I have on itunes.

Have tried deleting from itunes with phone plugged in. Does not respond to delete button on laptop,
In itunes Song>Delete is greyed out.
Have tried General>Usage>Manage Storage and the Music app is supposed to appear with the option to delete, but it does not.

Ya, I need a new phone or a different brand - go way.

I used Winamp for all my iPod music management, probably work with your iPhone.

Plug it into iTunes and go to your music and then deselect the playlist that you have set to sync on your phone. That should delete the music off the phone.

Pretty sure this is what I did awhile back. Be nice to be able to do it on the one though.

To delete, try...

Settings>General>Storage & iCloud Usage>Manage Storage>Music.

Swipe left on "All Songs" and choose "Delete".

I think that will delete all your music.

Then choose the playlist you want in iTunes and sync.

I decided to try the iPhone because I could get a corporate phone and save about $70 a month. I was sick and tired of fighting my old Android phone with its dodgy hardware (Motorola) and crippled software.

After two years I am totally over the iPhone and iOS. It's a great idea made irritating by Apple's obsessive need to control how you do things, right down to not being able to correct single character typos. I'll keep the corporate phone because it's saving me money, but my tablet is not an iPad, that's for sure.

Deleting music on the latest phones with the latest iOS and iTunes app is simple.
