Gaston's Fly-In 2016 - Thursday Oct 13 - Sunday October 16

Kent is finally in the air, e.t.a about 10:45. The big challenge is going to be finding someone sober enough to go pick him up!!!

They may be walking! :) it's only 12 miles after all.

Hubby and I are planning to come Saturday morning. Is the field hard enough to land on? Or is it soft and muddy?

We're going to plan on coffee in Cabin 7 tomorrow morning again. I'll make a post when it's brewing.

It's in pretty good shape. There's a low spot at the SW end that's a bit soft...easily avoided.

It's the very end of 24...beginning of 06...in front of the parking area.

We may not get there. Fog isn't scheduled to lift here until 2:00.

Any coffee anywhere? Anyone want to meet for breakfast in restaurant?

There are breakfast burrito fixings for two available in cabin 6 if somebody wants an easy breakfast

There is also fresh brewed black coffee in cabin 6, bring your mug (and milk/sugar if you need it--we drink it black).

Dates for next year; there's a new thread for that event.

Dinner update: burgers and hot dogs at the flight line around 5 o'clock. We will fire up the grills about 4:30 PM.

Brunch is at 10am tomorrow at the restaurant before departures!! Thanks to Sharon B for making the reservations!!

Well, Bruce takes top honors for best quote at two consecutive fly-ins.

Yesterday's quip, while watching the powered parachute guys play with their toys:

"You know, it's amazing that men ever reach adulthood."

I think that is why there are more women folk than men and I gives hope to Andrew making his obligation by his 31st birthday

Absolutely the BEST drive-in we have ever been to! Thanks all for the wonderful weekend, Kim and I enjoyed meeting everyone and we are already looking forward to next year!

Here's a crazy idea from a newbie, how about next year we make it a "fly-in"? That would be even MORE fun! ;-)

Safe travels everyone!

Terry even cleaned up the flightline and rearranged our stuff on one picnic table for easy pick up this morning before he left. I think that means we have to keep them.

They are a great couple. I saw this sign and thought to my self, "self, why don't they start the deer around here on a weight watchers program" good lord why does my brain work this way?

...so weird to read this from afar. I've been a Thursday-to-Sunday Gaston's guy since (I think) 2006... or was it 2005?

I know I flew there at least once in a club plane (the Deb), which would have made it no later than 2007 (when I bought my Bo), but I think it was 2006.

2006 was when we met and I think that was your 2nd year. How the hell is it we have been friends for 10 years and only seen each other for 2 days in June 2006?

It's usually a race to see if it's Doc or Greg who gets that award. :)

Sucks to have not been there, with people I love...

Ditto.

Made it back to my place! Had a great time seeing everyone again and meeting some others!

Hopefully we'll have a fly-in next year!

Flynn's safely back in Georgia after a smooth flight at 11,000'. We sure had a good time. All the kids there made it especially fun. Thanks to everybody. The group is what made it happen.
