Gaston's Fly-In 2016 - Thursday Oct 13 - Sunday October 16

I don't have time to come.

But Bob's coming.

So I guess I'll be there, if only for an abbreviated visit, with little to no liquor.

I was afraid you weren't going to make it, Spike, and I was very sad about that.

With a saddened heart, I regret to inform you that the English Brown Ale that I made for Gaston's is way to green. Since I refuse to serve sub par brewski, I won't bring the keg o' beer that was promised. I'll bring something else in it's stead.

I also apologize for not being in the conversation the last couple weeks. Me laptop crashed, it's been busy at work, so I have some POA catch-up to do. I'll take a closer look at the grocery list and see what grub we still need.

Just take the labels off some beer you bought at the store and say you made it.

Nay. There's no honor in that brYan. It's okay. It was just a failed attempt to be as cool as you anyway. The aviation gods smote me for the feeble attempt. ;)

Are there going to be name tags?

I blame your app. Accuweather shows severe clear at Gastons all week and weekend.

Gaston's 2016 Shared Meal Plan

Copy and paste between/including the ===== lines to add on what you're bringing.

9/30 update: I have reviewed the items people have signed up to bring and have bolded the items I think we could still need more of to make future sign-ups easier.

We definitely need more sign-ups for meats (a few people signing up for a pound or two of ground beef would be perfect, can be used for EITHER meal).

Please look at what others have signed up to bring before you sign up... and use common sense! We need more hamburger than we do lettuce or onion, for example, so if two people are bringing lettuce, look for something else to augment, that hasn't been picked. If everything looks well-covered, sign up to bring more beer!

THURSDAY NIGHT:
Pizza feed, as usual (pitch in some cash, we order pizza)

FRIDAY NIGHT:
"Taco Whatever" -- sign up to bring fixin's and you can assemble beef, chicken, or veggie nachos, soft or crunchy tacos, salad, or burrito wraps from all the ingredients sitting out on the table.

THINGS WE NEED (pick a couple items): ground beef, fajita beef or chicken, chicken breast, tortilla chips, beans (refried, kidney, charro beans, etc.), taco sauce, lots of salsa, avocados, onions and mints, sour cream, shredded cheese, lettuce, jalapenos, sliced black olives, beer, soft drinks, dessert, plates/solo cups/napkins/plastic cutlery are always welcomed, anything else you want that you don't see here.

THINGS WE NEED (pick a couple items): ground beef hamburger patties, hot dogs, chicken patties, veggie burgers if you're vegetarian (bring what you want!), hot dog and hamburger buns, potato chips, potato and/or macaroni salad, sliced cheese, bacon, mustard, mayo, ketchup (if you want to be publicly mocked and flogged), relish, onions and mints, beer, soft drinks, dessert, plates/solo cups/napkins/plastic cutlery are always welcomed, anything else you want that you don't see here

SIGN UP LIST:

From the air-to-air photography thread, in case someone misses it:

Cabin 9 is open, we rescheduled because I've still haven't had luck finding a plane. Hopefully we will be able to make the next one.

We all know Bryan sucks. What does that have to do with the weather?

Fortunately, I'm close enough that it's not a big deal to drive if needed...but that would suck just as badly as Bryan does! ;)

I'm going to be bummed if it's IMC. We're driving, but I'd want to fly in if I had to shoot the Braille 24 approach. ;)

Still can't make it, but will miss everyone. Did get a private note from one of Tony & Leah's friends requesting some help with the awful FCC website to do some radio licensing for their glider ops stuff (I assume) on Saturday so I'll be indirectly helping PoA friends with something "aviation related".

Not really, but I was hoping to get to meet you.

Oh snap! Weather not looking favorable for a Friday afternoon arrival. May have to road trip.

That could be said for Ed or Kent

Meh... I don't do Gaston's at night, only 6Y9. 6Y9 doesn't have the terrain, the power lines, or much of anything else, and with the full moon it might as well be daylight the way the runway sticks out from the surroundings! (Besides, Pete was in the left seat the only time it was actually night going in there, not me!)

Did I tell you the story from one of the 6Y9 attendees when you were due in th8s year?

Does that mean you just come on Thursday?

I could, but the babysitter (grandma) isn't available until Friday. I could forget the babysitter and bring all three kids, but I don't want to do Gaston's for the first time 5 up in a four seater and bumping max gross weight.

We're bringing our 3 kids. I believe there are others bringing their kids, too. I know last year Gaston's was very kid friendly.

We're looking forward to seeing eveyrone! We'll be driving down tomorrow, probably arriving around dinner time. If anyone ends up needing a road lift from Mountain Home if the weather requires an instrument approach, give me a ring.

It appears I am unlikely to make it, for the first time since 2007. Or was it 2006?

Sunday's weather is looking much better than it was yesterday at this time. That was the day that really had me worried. I can't afford not to get home.

Aww hell, Tim. You ain't never taken off in 0/0 from a grass strip at night?

@SixPapaCharlie I'm smelling another instructional video.

Spike, I may have to ask you to sue yourself for emotional damage.

I assure you, I am punishing myself a great deal already. Problem is, I have commitments here that are not getting carved down.

In case anyone's forgotten proper arrival technique:

There appears to be a 9am-noon flyable VFR window of arrival for those of us from the DFW area... will verify in the morning. Primary concern is arrival before any storms kick off (bring tie-downs!)... and runway conditions after today's rains.

Would appreciate a PIREP here from any early arrivals.

Spike, :-(

Well, since Spike (a.k.a. Azzhole) isn't making it, I have a BR open if anyone needs one.
