There was a significant amount of traffic on the InterWebs re: a Rotec powered Hatz in work in Switzerland. Absolutely BEAUTIFUL.

Problem is it appears there is no comparable coverage of the aircraft POST completion... Does anyone have links to any decent air-air or other professional coverage of this aircraft? It's amazing how quickly it seems to have dropped off...

Have you tried asking over on the biplane forum? They should be able to track something down, have seen it completed but personally haven't seen anything since. Very nice looking bird by the way.

It's been doing great. They made a prop change, but I believe that is the only alteration they have done. Beautiful airplane, and a real motivator as I build my Hatz Classic. Rotec R3600 powered as well.

If you want more info direct from the builder, go to hatzbiplane.com. Go to forums, building/maintaing Hatz classic. Do a search for vintage Hatz.

Awesome, thanks!

Just what I was looking for. I estimate I'm at least a decade from starting but this is IT.

Is the gear longer or is it just the modified wheel?
Assume the engine mount would be one of the largest fab pieces on it...

Painless, how far along are you?

These hatz?

The gear is longer to accommodate the radial's bigger, 84" prop. This particular airplane did gain some height with the vintage style wheels.

The motor mount is no more involved than that for a lycoming. It's basically a conical mount vs dynafocal like on many Lycomings.

I have the top and bottom wings as well as the top center section done, minus the ailerons. Fuselage tubing structure is welded, now beginning fabrication/welding all the fittings etc for the fuselage.

It's been a real hoot so far. I tell people that I "assembled" an RV6A, and that now I am "building" a Hatz biplane.

Purty. Nice pics.

I hope Rotec does well long term. A lot of planes just look great with radials. This Hatz, the RV8, the radial Rocket, etc.

I really wish rotec would start stacking the engines, a nice double row would work well in my bipe. 300 ponies would make her a real nice performer.

I love my Hatz with an O-320 but agree that the Rotec Radial would be awesome on her as well.
