Just got the renewal email for my Sky Arrow yesterday.

In part...

Can't complain!

Some have worried about the insurance rate ramification of converting from S-LSA to E-LSA. Recall my rate went down slightly, albeit because they would only insure the hull to a slightly lower amount.

May I ask how much hull coverage you have? I just got my renewal quote. It went up significantly, presumably because aI had them bump up the hull coverage.

The more you fly the cheaper it gets till you reach your seventies.

$50k. When I went from S-LSA to E-LSA they pegged that as the maximum they would cover - the Sky Arrow was originally $75.5k and before converting I recall I had her insured for $65k.

Since a new one would be around $110k, I just accept that I'm a bit underinsured. Will just have to try really hard not to crash!

If you haven't already, you might call Shanna or one of the others at Arthur J. Gallagher (used to be Nation Air). They had ho problem at all covering my E-LSA for 75k.

Anyone have experience building and insuring? Avemco won't cover the initial 10 flight hours. I'm a little uncomfortable with that considering the investment. I need to decide on E-AB insurance soon.

Would that be Arthur Gallagher? I use them and my ELSA is insured for $90K hull.

Yes, sorry... I composed that on my phone and didn't double check. Arthur J Gallagher. They're pretty popular with RV pilots, and great people to work with. I was getting a competitive quote just to sanity check before signing the renewal, but the guy doing the quote hasn't bothered to respond for close to a week now... so I'm definitely not impressed.

I had builder's insurance with them before buying the RV-12, and all my dealings with them have been hassle-free.

That's who I use for my S-LSA.
