Ever since I was a little boy I've wanted to get upside down in a plane. What are the basic motions for me to do a basic roll in a C172? Do I just keep banking until it completely turns over? Do I need to do anything with the elevator? Just some basic step by step instructions would be great.

I just want to be upside down briefly nothing fancy.

Please this is a serious question. If you have nothing to add please just move on and let those who know respond to me.

I suspect you know the steps quite well.

Which airport are you at? I'll come and try it with you, how hard can it be? We can watch some YouTube then go give it a shot. How many planes have you seen crash inverted? It's not like you'll get stuck there.

Upside Down in An Airplane for Dummies is out!

Just put in full left elevator right after you lift off. Make sure you have full fuel tanks because the 172 has this known issue where it can have some problems feeding fuel upside down if the tanks aren't full. Report back to us. Or don't.

Btw, you might want to do this near a hose in case the engine gets too hot.

I've been around the block so you guys can trust me. Don't listen to these other people who say it can't be done.

Here are the steps.
1. You put your right foot in
2. You take your right foot out
3. You put your right foot in and you shake it all about.
4. You do the Hokey Pokey and you turn yourself around

and well that is what it is all about.

Roll, schmoll. Hammerheads in a 172 are far more interesting (yes, I actually was in one) and have the same regulatory "blessing."

We're gonna need a bigger bag (of popcorn)
