The Great Monkey Race: Progress Thread

I'm curious how many times I flew over the monkey during this time (commercial).

Enjoyed lunch with Eric, Leeann and Dave. From KGMU we flew over to KRYY and had my son pick us up at the airport. We had family from IL coming through last night and we met them for dinner then headed back to the airport and flew home to KLZU. On the ground around 9:30pm. Long day, but fun. We flew 226nm in 3.2 hours and burned 24.7 gallons of 100LL.

Always good to see you and your wife.

I forgot you were going to RYY, not back to LZU. Looked like that cell should have been south of there by the time you got there. I had clear skies but plenty of bumps on my way home.

We saw nothing threatening over to RYY. Got a few sprinkles on the windscreen. Headed back to LZU around 9:00pm and had a nice cool, smooth trip. On the trip down to RYY we went to 6500 and had to drop down to 4500 about a half hour out due to a line of clouds.

Ladies and Gentlemen of The Great Monkey Race...............Chapter 1 has officially come to an end with a great meet up at The Runway Cafe at KGMU. I've always wanted to whip my monkey out in public and today I had the opportunity to do just that. Of course, my monkey is, well, pretty darn small so no one really noticed. I flew my friend Leann out to the Cafe and got to meet Dave T and Mr. and Mrs. EppyGA, not only fellow PoAers but also honorary participants in The Great Monkey Race. A fun time was had by all, and it was an appropriate close to Chapter 1 of TGMR. I have some tee shirts to get out, which will take a couple of weeks, and I also have 2 ideas for more Monkey Madness. I will issue the challenges in the near future. For now, Dave Theisen is bringing the monkey to OSHKOSH, which seemed to be what the majority of people in this thread wanted to see. I hope everyone views the (first portion of) the event a success, as the mission was to get pilots out, meeting other pilots, and I think we did that. We also did lots of hookers and blow, but I think that would have happened with or without the monkey. Thanks to all involved or anyone who was pulling for a successful Monkey Race!!! CHEERS!!!!!!!

Woot, woot. That just proves that a bunch of crazy pilots can move an object across the country in less than a year. What a feat!

Fantastic.

Is the monkey heading to Oshkosh now?

yes, dave t is bringing him along with an unsuspecting "holy-sht-what-did-I-get-myself-into" chemguy. also starting to recruit the next victim, er, I mean willing participant.

Yeah, I would have loved to have flown a leg or two but my plane was sans engine at the time.

ok folks.........only sharing the slideshow link with y'all right now.........if anyone IN the video has any concerns, wants their picture removed, or has any other comments or suggested changes, please let me know. @EppyGA please let me know if there are any concerns with having your peeps in the video, also @SixPapaCharlie, @Hank S, @Mike Smith, @simtech, @denverpilot (I think I got everyone) if you guys want me to remove you, just lemme know, not a big deal to redo it.

I'm not a fan of slideshow "videos" and also not a big fan of long azz videos, so here's my long azz slideshow video of pics from TGMR. they didn't all make it in but most did.

TGMR slideshow

feedback welcome, unless it's "waaahhh, I don't like music in videos waaahhh"

Looks good Eman. None of my folks will have a problem with their pictures being in there.

Ok, I will allow it this one time.
I try to keep a low profile.

That was awesome by the way. That monkey has been to more states than me.
But we sure do have alot of high wing pilots here don't we? Just not right.

Just for the record...I volunteered to go along with Dave, long before there was any Monkey business involved. Now that I have time off work I'm not backing out.
I'm not scared of emans monkey.

Nope not even a little.....

That was a lot of work to accomplish exactly nothing.

But was kinda cool for some odd reason.

Good job on the slide show!

You know... @eman1200 warned me but I was all excited to open my t-shirt box... In my car...

There's mini-politicians everywhere.

The Monkey is with me, in Colorado. Luxuriating after an exhausting tour of Oshkosh and arriving home at 2:30am this morning. I'm promoting the idea of "The Monkey must visit all 50 states via General Aviation!" and will have more posts soon - probably a new thread. With pictures!
