Passed my Private Pilot Checkride!

Congratulations!

Once you've recovered, many of us enjoy reading checkride write-ups... so tell us all about it!

Haha yea I might write some later...bit exhausted right now

Good deal! Now you can start having fun.

Not the best advice for a rookie. Now you can start learning more about how the plane actually works. Now you can learn how the engine actually works, and some times doesn't! Now you can practice the bare bones skills got you a ticket to learn. Enjoy your new talent but know how little you really know and go easy. Enjoy the cool thing you accomplished but focus on learning and putting in the time it takes to actually get good. It takes a long time and is well worth it.

Well done!!

Once you get over the hangover tomorrow get in an airplane and go somewhere just for fun

Congrats. 6 hours though, must have been a thorough oral? What the heck y'all talk about for 4+ hours?

Yea kind of caught me off guard actually...3 hours for the oral a little over 2 hours flying time and then about a 30 minute debrief so just shy of 6 hours

Three hour oral for Private Pilot sounds pretty brutal. Congrats to you for persevering!

Awesome!!! Congratulations pilot!!!! Welcome to the temporary certificate club... Now go out and have some fun!!!:happydance::happydance::happydance:

GREAT wow 6 hours ! good for you, fly suave and safe

Congratulations!!

Now start having fun with it. Do some more XCs by doing PnP flights or longer distance burger runs.

contrats! where are you based? It definitely wasn't the coolest day for a checkride. We hit >100F heat index yesterday.

I was wondering when we would finally see you make this post. Earlier than I thought.
Congratulations! And expecting a full write-up. :)

6 hours? I think you just set the world record for the longest PP practical that did not include a deferral. Congratulations, either way!

Sounds like a pilot endurance test! The DME must've been lonely and in need of company for the day.

Hahaha...long day for sure...and doing it in 100 degrees kind of sucked...I was glad it was over to be honest.

I think SmashTime/Hulk's check ride was a bit longer

Good on you, get back out there ASAP and enjoy yourself while you realize there's lots to learn. Will you rent or is ownership in your future?

Rent for now...dad is looking for a plane actually...he has his PPL as well.

Alright!! It sucks when the exams run so long, but it's worth it! :)

Congrats!

Hey guys,

I wrote up a checkride/examiner review for my instructor (it is fairly lengthy). I think I will post a link to the Word Doc later on if anyone is interested. It may be useful for those who will be taking their PPL checkride. I wrote it more as a review of the examiner than I did the checkride, but it covers everything for the most part. Maybe it would be more appropriate for me to edit out the portions that talk about the examiner.

6 hours, that guy needs a sign on his back! Just kidding, sort of. :)

Haha...I thought the examiner was good..and fair...but I did mention in my "write up" that he made a comment during the oral that was a bit of a slap in the face and to some extent set the tone for the rest of the checkride
