...now that I've gotten completely familiarized with the new:

Not a damned thing.

Nice job guys.

Well, okay, maybe that one emoticon but I'll live. ;)

As I've gotten used to some of the new features, I really like the new software.

Kudos to the team!

John

On Android, my carriage return doesn't work.

I cringe when I see updates to something that seems to work fine. Experience says, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." (I'm thinking of skyvector, for example). But the POA update has proven an exception. I like.

Glad to hear it's working out for everyone. I had very little to nothing to do with the migration - Jason put a lot of time and a lot of working into planning, testing, etc to ensure it was as seamless as it was. I'm still figuring out the new software myself, but find something every day I like.

Copy and paste does not work well with the new software.

I agree. Quite often, when I paste something into the text box while I'm composing a post, the pasted text won't show up until I view a preview of the post I'm working on. This seems to happen when I copy and paste something from the thread.

Another problem is that when I open a thread that I have viewed before, it may or may not go to the correct place in the thread.

I miss a lot of the emoticons, and of the ones we have, I prefer the old ones.

It's harder to read. I think this is because there's less contrast between the text and the background.

I haven't found a way to easily control what text a link displays as. I don't remember how to edit the link for that purpose, so it's easier to just create the link on the AOPA or Purple Board and then paste it here.

It takes two mouse clicks instead of one to get to the preview post feature.

Two things that I consider to be improvements are the "like" feature and the search function.

OK, I just did this with your text above, and am wondering what kind of problems you are having. I am using Safari on a iMac, not a tablet.

To create a link, type some words...

Words, words, words.

Highlight them, click on this icon and type or paste the URL.

I linked to Google.com for no particular reason...

On my laptop browser, if I highlight and CTRL-C some of your text, then go below the quoted part, and then CTRL-V there, nothing appears.
However, if I then go to More Options, Preview....there is the copied text!
It's just a small bug.

Which browser were you using?

What I have really like about the new forum is how ignored members completely disappear. I only have two people on ignore...and I don't even know they're here. The old software's ignore function sucked.

this is not true.

@Let'sgoflying! described it better than I did. I'm using Firefox under Windows 7.

Hmm... trying it in Chrome and the CTRL-C and CTRL-V functions seem to work normally. I can see the quoted text without going to Preview. So Safari and Chrome work normally for me on an iMac with OSX.

I don't have Firefox installed so I can't try that.

For me, it depends on how I do it. If I copy the text directly from your post and then paste it into the text window at the bottom of the page, it works normally. If instead I click Reply, and then copy some of the text from within the quote box, pasting it below the quote box shows nothing. However, at that point, if I click on More Options, it shows up on the new page that comes up.

If I click on More Options before doing the copy and paste, then I have to click on Preview to see what I pasted.

Hmmm... worked for me here. I copied your sentence from within the quote box to below the quote box.

But when would you have an occasion to do that? Or am I misinterpreting what you wrote?

I think I was trying to quote and reply to a post in sections.

By the way, I'm not sure that this is the only circumstance where I have seen the problem. I haven't had time to experiment with it (other than trying what Let'sgoflying reported).

I just tried it with Internet Explorer and it behaves correctly, so the problem may be specific to Firefox.

I dont know about all the features, but,, I got an alert that I have been awarded a Trophy...
What is a trophy?
What do I need to do to get it?
What is it good for?
Do I even want it?
What did I do to be so honored?

My only complaint is the ridiculous number of ads that are all over the place now when I am viewing the board on Tapatalk. Any way to turn those off?

Not really the site's issue or problem. They've been nice enough to allow the TT interface but ads come from the TT folks.

As a very long time user of the paid version of TT, I get no ads at all. It's tied to my user account there (which you must log into in the software or it can't tell you're entitled to having no ads, but there are some other downsides to letting them handle login duties for forums, but it's all settable in the settings...), and automatic as long as I'm using it.

At least at one time they called this "VIP" status, but they change the name every major release. I just call it "paid". Also at some major releases you have to pay again, but at like $4 or whatever it is, it's generally meaningless and removes more annoyance than it costs, considering some people pay more for cups of foo-foo coffee.

My assumption is that one can still pay up and remove them, but I'm grandfathered right now, so I can't tell ya for sure. And TT has changed their rules on this before, and probably will again. They're not the most ethical software company anyone has ever seen, but I've seen way worse. Especially in the mobile App market.

Short version: To remove ads, pay TT a few bucks to remove them.

So why did the ads just start to show up when the new forum went back to TT?

Before the software shift, I used TT for years and wasn't getting these ads. As soon as they brought back the TT option, the ads were everywhere.

I just use Safari on my tablet or Explorer from the desk, and I never see any ads.

If you hate the ads, try the site without having Tapatalk in the way.

They didn't here. Coincidence that something's wrong on your account or settings around the same timeframe.

Good thing you mentioned it, or you'd not have known. My copy isn't doing that.

Have you talked to their tech support?

Id like to see locations of members again. Framing their perspectives helps when talking about various things. I have my airport in the sig, but most don't.

You can see their location, if they have provided it, by clicking on their avatar. Or if they don't have an avatar like you, clicking on the question mark. :)

Seems like it won't accept any vids transferred from my iPhone. The old software used to accept them.
