Long shot - need a dog?

Friday, Karen and I took in a foster puppy.

He's about 1 year or less, we think some kind of brindle Shar-Pei, bulldog mix. 40 lbs now, and about full-grown we think.

Sweet temperament, playful, loyal, housebroken, really soft, fit right in with our pack.

He's currently un-neutered, but that's being dealt with Thursday.

Anyway, he's a real find if you are interested, or know anyone who might be.

Dunno bout the Shar Pei, but I'd put some money on some pibble in there. The shape of the head, the expressive eyes and eyebrows, and the shortish snout look like pittie. As Jonesy said, looks like a keeper!

Of course. He also has a broad stance that does not show in those photos.

They have such a bad rap I used the more generic "bulldog".

A real sweetie, regardless!
 
Looks like a good boy.

We just rescued a terrier mix to add to our pack, so we're full. I think he'll get a forever home quick though.
 
I see a "foster failure" in your future. :) (If unfamiliar with the term, it's what folks say when they end up keeping the foster pups.)

We have drawn the line at our current pack of four, comprised of two animal control "saves", a surrender by a neighbor, and a "foster fail". Otherwise he'd be a keeper for sure!
 
Almost looks like he's got some catahoula in him too.

Good luck finding him a home, guessing it's not going to take much effort though
 
Two dogs we have already, three would be eccentric. Good luck finding the fellow a permanent home. We love dogs.
 
We have one that looks just like that, rescued as a puppy and about 6 now. Very smart dog, and loves people, gets along with everyone. He gets along well with most other dogs, but is definitely an alpha male, and will protect his toys and treats/food. He got certified as a therapy dog, and my wife takes him into nursing homes for interaction with the patients. Great watchdog around the house as well.

But if your "little one" is more aggressive than playful, it might not work out.

BTW, he's at the vet now being neutered. I found out the adoption fee is $200, up a bit from what it was. But that includes initial vetting, rabies, distemper, bordatella, neutering/spaying and chipping.
 
How big do you anticipate him getting?
 
I have a 9 year old boxer mix that goes about 100lbs, thinks he's still 20lbs like when I got him, and still acts 2 (minus the chewing phase) I've been thinking about getting another pack member, but not sure about the size differential, and how that would play out.
 
Eddie, are you the one with Jake the Chow-Chow mix? How is he doing?

From the interactions I've seen at the dog park between larger boxers and medium size dogs, I don't think you'll have a problem based on size/weight. For dogs, it's all about attitude and energy. And your boxer will love having an active playmate.
 
Already have two rescues... almost got another yesterday but, well, 2 is just plenty for us... Good luck finding a permanent home... looks like a great dog for someone...
