TX folks, let's eat at new Cameron (T35) 50's Cafe!

I think I'll make it out with a buddy direct from Houston. Either one or two airplanes... Still undecided. We both are stuck at the office until late Friday night, unfortunately, so hopefully I don't sleep through it.

Mark us down as good to be there.

2 souls unless she chickens out.

Hmmm... we're putting together a North Texas group to go there Sunday.... I'll have to check how flexible they are on days.

It will be tight on the ramp with 8+ planes. I'm taking a pass on this event.

I just talked to the City Manager/Airport Manager and he said it was acceptable to park on the grass if there was no room on the ramp. I ask if the grass would hold a plane and he said yes.

FYI - He also said at 5 there is a Christmas Parade on Saturday.

This was the ramp when we flew into Cameron. I think y'all will have plenty of room!

Dallas gang is talking about going there Sunday.

I'm heading up there from TME +1 or +2 on Sunday. Rob hit me up this am.
Looks like I finally get to meet the infamous Aggie Mike...

I landed there today and the ramp is huge plus lots of other places to park. Datadriver said tight for 8 planes???? Does he fly a 737???
I may come out. Maybe the Cub, maybe the model 12? If I am pressed for time I may just buzz y'all in the 12 at noon.

Didn't you make the Great Hard 8 Fly Out of 2014 that 6PC organized?

I'll put you on the list. If you can either post here or PM me Name, Aircraft Type, Tail and origin please sir. See you tomorrow.

So... How much parking does this ramp have?

Yep, Rhett sated there was plenty of room on the ramp and the low grass.

That's right!

I have 26 planes confirmed now, so parking may start to get a little tight but more than enough room in the grass. Also, if you plan on joining us for lunch, please shoot me your Name, Aircraft Type, Tail, Origin and souls please sir!

Again, please make plenty of room for other aircraft. Planned arrival time is 1150, and restaurant sit down at noon. I have reserved space for 30 people, so please give me a go-no/go on lunch asap so I can increase that.

Thanks!

P.S. If you are in the Austin Area, join our Pilot Group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/austinpilots/

Most of the planes will be meeting at EDC at 1100 and HYI at 0930 for a briefing before departure. So it's a good idea to be a part of that if you plan on flying in with the group. Heads on a swivel, quick intentions on the radio and no touching parts in the air!

I kissed the managers ass quite a bit. Ive got a whole section of the restaurant reserved. Should be good.

Did you shoot me your info?

I had a great time meeting you guys and gals at the cafe in Cameron today.

Good food, good people, and blue skies, makes for a great day.

Beautiful day. Good food. Good people.

I even forgave the kid who cut me off on final. I was young and stupid once upon a time... :wink2:

It was great meeting everyone and forgetting all the names nearly instantly (way too many people for my feeble memory).
Thanks to all who helped organize this and to all who came out and had a fun day.

And I believe the general consensus was "when are we doing the next one?" :)

Big thank you, of course, to the owner, Mr. Bob, who was willing to accommodate so many of us but I think it worked out just fine. He will have his hands full with the Dallas crowd tomorrow!

Mr. Bob also used to be the mayor of Cameron and ran the airport. Maybe our next fly-in could be announced to the public to promote GA? Just a silly thought.

Thank you guys all for coming out to the fly-in. Final count was 35 airplanes and over 70 people. You guys are awesome!

I did my best to come shake all your hands, and I hope I got to most of you!

I wish I could have made it, but work got in the way again. Need to plan another Texas meetup ;-)

Sorry I didn't stop in. The plan was to fly the Model 12 over, do a low pass and some aerobatics. When I got in the area there were 35 planes calling in to land from all directions. I headed back, didn't want to cause a accident acting a fool :)
Maybe I will catch you guys next time. I am based at Brenham so if any of you guys fly out here for lunch feel free to give me a shout.

Food was good. And an enjoyable distance from Denton (not too much more when flying out to KSEP for BBQ).

Will definitely keep it in mind for future food runs.

Nice meet up... glad to put some faces with some names.

Small group of us DFW folk meeting there today really enjoyed it.

I'll definitely add this to my list of fly out destinations.

Yup Yup.

And if you like stuffed bell peppers then you are going to love....
Er actually nevermind that was a today only thing.

Southwest Grilled chicken was goooood.

Next time I am getting a burger though.

Def. on the flying list

So let's start planning a PoA of Texas Flying Flash Mob event. It appears to be a decent central location for many of us. Pick a good Spring day and see if we can't get just about every Texan on here to attend.

Something about Cameron Airpark I'm very jealous of.... A hangar that is wide enough for two aircraft and a portable office, bi-fold door, electricity, concrete floor....

$300/mo and available now.

We just don't see a deal like that in the big city.

I'm down.

Stephenville (KSEP) might be a better central location for a fly mob. :dunno:

Bigger ramp, larger strip, nice FBO.

Hard Eight will shuttle in case anyone has walking issues.

I wish they still had the golf carts. It was fun back then :-(

Minor knock on Cameron.... no taxiway.

We didn't slam them in, and we had 4 departing at nearly the same time, so coordinating the back taxi was important.

I suggest Fredricksburg for a Texas meet-up.
