TX folks, let's eat at new Cameron (T35) 50's Cafe!

Yum Yum. It was not really a $100 hamburger run more like a $50 Run.
The Mooney was lonely on the ramp on a very pretty day.

Can't wait to try it. We go through Cameron all the time back and forth on the road to the farm, and I've flown into T35 several times and done a touch and go or two.

Today would have been great. CAVU all around.

Ain't that the truth. We went to Brenham today for lunch, though... Need to branch out some more and give this place a try.

We live in Brenham, and drive to the farm through Cameron. 11R is a gem for this town. We get some really cool planes sometimes.

Sometimes we drive through College Station, Snook, Mumford, or Hearne or Calvert. If I need something from farmers CO-OP, I go through Bryan.

We get around. :blueplane:

Every time I'm in Brenham I enjoy walking down parking to see what's there. The jets showing up for lunch are entertaining. If there hasn't been parking, is have been annoyed that it took 5 Ts lol. There were three matching gyrocopters that rolled in today that were pretty neat, too.

Sunday decisions...

1. Fly to Brenham? (11R)
2. Fly to Lake Jackson? (LBX)
3. Watch Packers hopefully not lose 3 in a row.

Hmmmm....

I missed my window for 11R today but I might head down to LBX for dinner. Anyone in?

I missed it too but have other plans for dinner tonight, unfortunately. Maybe next weekend, though!

I'm giving it a try this Sunday in my Arrow

Jay from your PIREP I was expecting the place to be deserted. Got there around 1230 today(Sunday) and couldn't get a table. Had to wait 20 minutes.

A couple of other POAers showed up and also had to wait.

My friend Travis and I flew our 140s over and got there at the same time as Datadriver and his wife. The wait wasn't too long, but the place was packed! I think it was people heading there after church. I had a chicken sandwich and it was awesome. Definitely on my list of places we'll fly to on a regular basis.

lol Well, we arrived right after the lunch rush. Sounds like you landed right in the middle of it!

We would have joined you guys, but I'm remodeling our hotel's laundry room -- after 5+ years, the last room in the hotel to go "under the knife". With Mary having to take all of the hotel's sheets and towels to the laundromat (no, really!) you can bet I'm under some intense pressure to get this done. ;) No flying for me till this room is back on-line.

Glad it was good! We plan to return soon.

We had a fun day. I flew from Taylor to Temple to meet up with my friend Travis in his Cessna 140A. We both flew to Cameron for lunch, then to Taylor, and then I rode with him back to Temple to put his plane away. A great day of flying!

OMG. Those 140s are so pretty, it almost brings tears to my eye.

Glad y'all had fun! Too bad I was at work all day, plugging away at the keyboard, trying to fix what others broke.

Next time!
That said, somebody suggested the 5th. That should be actually a gorgeous weekend. Cameron lunch, anyone?

What time y'all thinking?

I would assume noon-ish.
But there's a kid on Fagbook trying to organize a similar trip, let me talk to him to post here (not sure whether he is a member).
Also, I recently signed up with Austin Aviators on MeetUp which is a webpage aimed at organizing outings (so no Fagbook overhead, chatter, complaining, attacks etc). Seems like a legit site, if anybody wants to sign up. Only an email address is required, no personal information. So I will post the fly-out there too.

I'm planning on flying to Hereford for opening pheasant season Saturday.

I'll try to stop at T35 for an early lunch weather allowing. If weather or other time constraints rear up, I'll buzz y'all. :yesnod:

Mary and I were planning to join y'all, but Amelia is down lame for a week or so.

She *might* be back together by then, but I doubt it.

Okay Jay, fess up, what diju do? The truth this time! :)

Just low compression on #4. It was low at last annual (68/80), and we've been feeding it Marvel Mystery oil, trying to burn unleaded car gas, and keeping an eye on it these last 9 months.

Well, last flight I got an alarm on my EFIS, stating that the EGTs were outside of limits (more than 100 degrees apart). I was able to fiddle with the mixture to bring it back in line, and the engine sounded fine, but I figured I would check the compression once again. This time it was 58/80, so I knew it was time to pull the jug.

I'm taking it to the cylinder shop in Pleasanton, TX (J&J) tomorrow. I don't know if I will swap it out for a refurbed cylinder (in which case I will prolly make the lunch) or have them re-do my cylinder, which only has 650 hours on it.

This is only the second jug I've ever had to replace, so I consider myself lucky.

So it looks like we've got about 9-12 planes so far! I hope to get to see some more PoA'ers on Saturday!

If anyone has an open seat, we're all meeting at EDC about 1100 to do a quick brief and load co-pilots so let me know. Just PM me your tail number, aircraft type and how many open seats you've got.

Even if you don't have any open seats PM me your info so I can try and get some tables reserved.

Jack, maybe we can talk a little shop too if you come!

What the status on the can bud? Did they give her a shiny new one or what?

Well, I thought I would be there! Now it looks like I'm leaving town on Friday. Got a photo opportunity I can't pass up.

Unless it's porn, it's not an opportunity at all. :) Well I guess I'll have to drool on that 140"B" another time then... suck.

p.s. B is for badass

Nope, I'm having my jug rebuilt. It takes a bit longer, but with only 650 hours since new, it seemed like the better (and cheaper) way to go.

Looks like we will miss Saturday's get together, dammit. :(

Close enough for me! I've got an offer to go take photos of some very awesome planes at a private party!

What's the "B"?

Yes PlanePorn counts. With the way you take pictures, they'll be centerfolds. ;)

The P.S. in tiny letters at the bottom of the post. :)

I hope so! It's a great opportunity for me. I was told to keep the details to myself and show up and I would be amazed... that's all I needed to hear! In otherwords, don't ask questions, shut up and fly!

LOL, I missed the small print! She sure thinks she's a badass... all 85hp of her!

Totally reversed course and bought a new Lycoming cyljnder, when the price difference dropped to less than $250.

Still won't make the fly out, dammit... We should be back in the air next Tuesday.

Put another wing on it and you can meet all the biplane guys at Llano for BBQ at Cooper's on the 12th.
