they towed a plane into our plane on the ramp.

But towing the jet doesn't seem to be the issue since it was the tug that hit the Cirrus. Could have been towing a PA-28 and it still might have happened.

True. Many tugs orient to driver towards the airplane being towed. You have to turn around and look behind you occasionally to avoid hitting something.

And a wing walker would help with that also...

Probably more likely to happen actually.
One would assume they would try to give a wider birth for airplanes with larger wingspans.

The big jet FBOs always have a wing walker.

They still have accidents.

Most of the time they don't.
If it was at all tight, I used to request a wing walker. That was always like pulling teeth.

It happens. I once pushed my airplane into my motorcycle.

Two weeks ago on push back the tug driver pushed our airplane into the jet bridge.

At least they told you. Back on the 80s when Jim's Air was the FBO at SAN, they backed dad's Lance into another airplane or building and completely destroyers the trim tab on the horizontal stab and never said a thing. Dad found it on the preflight.

Jim's Air was the biggest ripoff on the planet.

Does that mean you now have an airplane with an accident history that no one wants we you go to sell it.

Sorry that sucks biggens.

Maybe. I'll probably pull the rad handle before we ever get to that point.
But yup someone is likely going to get a bit of a deal in a few years.

You can't fix a Cirrus......

It's junk now....

We all know once you pull the chute they can't be fixed(except for the 14 that flew again)

Sucks you didn't get to pull the chute....oh wait....you can....just get it on camera. It's junk anyway...so at least you can make $12.58 when it goes viral with 5 million hits!!!;)

Don't forget to get compensation for the lower resale value of your plane. When you sell it you cannot say no known damage. That will lower your resale value.

Unless you plan on making a report with the NTSB then you can safely still say "No damage history"

If every plane that had been hangar rashed was considered "damaged" any airplane more than a couple years old would be free.

We are sorting that out.
The elevator is frozen full up so it can't be flown (for more than a few seconds anyway)

I expect some of the local cirrus representation to handle the repair.
We talk to their people on Monday to learn (and hopefully dictate a bit) how this process will work moving forward.

We have a cirrus mx in Denton and one at meechum.
They have an office inn Addison as well.

Ya mean like this....:sad::sad::sad::sad:

Worst video ever.

I seem to recall the person taking the video was the father of the pilot.

If he was, he acted pretty calm on the video "I cannot believe it. Its all over." Video never even flinched when it went in. Wow.

Brain: If you get ground fever while the plane is in the shop, hollar and we'll buzz around in the 182

I had heard a rumor that that video was actually a test of an early unmanned/RC retrofit. No one was actually in the airplane. But, like all rumors... I could be wrong.

I was wrong... after 30 seconds of googling, it has three occupants on board, and it was a test for a turbine conversion.

Maybe I should google first, then post...

That must have taken some effort.

Yup. Combo of not pulling the bridge far enough away, then not pushing straight back. It was our company, but I wasn't in the plane when it happened.

The secret 182 cabal made sure the tug guy was tipped heavily so we could take another shot at converting "Brain". ;)

Ummm, gate agent doesn't move the bridge far enough away.... rampie doesn't push the airplane straight back.... sounds like pilot error. :D

That's a tough one to pull off, and not a claim that juries are sympathetic with. You can try to put it in play, but it's not worth fighting for.

I'd like a 182 down the road.
Not practical for me budget-wise for a few more years.

I am going to start small and gradually scale up while I have the 22 available.

My opinion is:

Was a 337 required due to the repair being a major repair? You have damage history.

No 337? No damage history.

[sneaky 182 cabal idea] Would you be mad if I added your name to our club's waiting list?

Yeah, I don't wanna share.
It is in my genetic makeup that I have my own bird on or around my 40th birthday.

There is a high likelyhood that night, I will spend the night in my plane in my hangar listening to Danger Zone on a loop, pressing the PTT switch and making pew pew pew noises pretending I'm Maverick.

If I were to join a club it would be aerovalley. Cheaper and I can fly both planes w/ my current time logged. $250 to join and $75/ month. $45/hr...
So So tempting.

Holding out for my own though.

Plus you really don't want any of the decals I am working up to end up on 55WB. :goofy:

I bet your dad would prefer you keep flying the plane with the parachute.

As much as I know you fly, you have to be closing in on 200 hrs PIC. If that's the case, then you're just an endorsement and checkout from operating the Bonanza in addition to 55WB

Plus you really don't want any of the decals I am working up to end up on 55WB.

Quit teasing. Show me what you've created and I might want some for myself.

U.S. Aviation is doing this right.

They gave us the option of having the onsite, Former Cirrus guys do the work or Clear Star aviation (local cirrus platinum partner) Or other shop of our choosing.

They reached out to both of them on our behalf.
Today we went and talked to the on field guy and he said he would be happy to do it but he said everyone involved would probably feel a lot more comfortable in the end if clear star did it since they are the current go to place for Cirrus.

The young man that bumped the plane came over and said they would bring whomever we want out to the field to do the work if we choose an offsite shop.

And then they said "We know you love to fly and we are pilots. If you want to get up and do some flying, it's on us"

So far they are a real class act. The young man that bumped us is running point and calling both of us / emailing both of us every step of the way and really owning this. He said he has some connections and if we use clear star, he can help us get it expedited.

My dad is a smart ass. After the kid gave the whole pitch, Dad just looked at the kid deadpan and said "Shouldn't you be washing my plane?" He laughed and told the kid he asked management to not make a big deal out of it. Nobody was hurt and we just fly for fun so this isn't really impeding any major plans.

So far, I feel like this is being handled very well.

I like to hear that... Both the way the FBO and you are handling it.

can't tell you what to do and wouldn't want to...

suggest getting a factory inspector out to do their job...

Being able to tell future purchaser that the factory looked at the aircraft and said do this is priceless...fiberglass isn't like aluminum where parts replacement is a great repair...
