There are a lot of IT folks on this board, VMworld is happening in SFO next week which should attract a fair number. Lets get together and share a beer while we're there
 
I live in the city....if you guys are grabbing a beer, let me know!!
 
Although I'm not crazy about driving to SFO any more than I have to, I could be talked in to a beer.

If you have to be "talked into" having a beer, I don't think you and I can be friends....:nono:
 
VMWorld is at the airport?

A hint for the non-locals -- it is "San Francisco" or maybe "the City." Perhaps "Downtown" if you're at Moscone Center (but don't use that outside the city or you're likely to end up in Oakland or San Jose). It is not SFO (that's the airport, and it's in the next county). It's not San Fran (unless you're in LA). It's really not Frisco (that's in Colorado).

It's a little far for me, or I'd join you guys for an Anchor Steam.

I have been to VMWorld a couple of times and San Francisco is local, but I'll be MA for go live hand holding next week.

Another hint for non-locals, "can be talked in to a beer" = raging alcoholic.

There's a cool Irish pub on Howard and Second, just about a block away.

Thirsty Bear is on howard and 3rd-ish...closer to 2nd, I think....It's not bad, but as Sac said, Katy O'Brians is a cool spot....so is the Chieftain...plus they got good pub food too.

Last time I was in there, I wasn't in too good a shape to be reading the street signs. So, I'll defer.

For folks down south, Caltrain runs up there but pick the train in the 300 group if you can. They are kind of express to downtown and return.
 
Why does VMWorld conjure up visions of more geeks in one place than a CPA convention?
 
So, what's the consensus? When's everyone actually going to be in the city? Katy O's or Thirsty Bear work for me. If we want to get fancy, there's a Chevy's a block or two away....lol

I'm good any day except for monday (that's trivia night at a different bar). As far as timelines are concerned, I'm usually back in the city (from work) by 6:30 or 7.
 
Katie O is fine as I'm coming up from SJC area and will be going back down maybe early. Heck, I may not even make it. Was just thinking if it's a beer call, some might want a brewery, but I'm sure Katie O can slake the thirst.
 
I went to Cisco Live instead of VMworld this year, so I won't be there this year. Should be going to Live again next year, too, so if any of y'all make it out there, we should do the same!
 
Damn. I was supposed to go to VMWorld this year, but had to cancel last minute due to some issues at work that I have to attend to.

With oil prices in the tank, I cancelled all of my team's convention travels. Hoping it can pick up for next year. I usually take a look at our big vendors and decide where the best one is located, and choose to go there. But, VMWorld, Cisco Live and Citrix Synergy are all in Vegas next year. Microsoft Ignite is the only one someplace else ... and I have no interest in going to Chicago.

Sounds like you'll be in Vegas at some point next year, then! For whatever reason, I always seem to get sent to a non-Vegas conference, but next year the odds are in my favor!

I may not be there until 7:30 either. The session I'm giving about using vRealize Automation to deploy complex applications goes until 6:30
