ND Game and fish has an announcement out that they are running an exam for (a) game warden pilot(s). Requirements are commercial w. instrument, 500hrs and eligibility for a ND peace officers license.
The way public service does this, there is an exam and then candidates are ranked. Not sure what the scope is, probably includes the same stuff as required for the regular game warden positions. Just in case someone is interested:

I'd apply if I met the reqs. That being said, I've heard from a ND warden I know that the position is roughly 60% game warden, 40% pilot. So you will be expected to perform game warden duties on the ground.

This is a career LEO position with some flying involved. This is not a timebuilder piloting job.

Oh, by all means, that's why I posted it. As long as the flying budget gets approved, this can be a lot of fun. Some of it is going to be duck surveys, some enforcement, some transportation for the biologists to outlying sites etc. The way this is written, they this is an officer first, pilot second deal.

How close are you on the hours ? You can knock out the commercial this week if need be.

Way to far away. And you still need to be able to identify fish and stuff like that :D
 
I would love to be a game warden. Unfortunately the jobs are few and far between and I'm VERY far away from commercial and instrument. That and I doubt they could match pay.

Don't you own a C-172? Time building is easy for you. Just a tank of gas and run it slow so it sips gas. You'd be at minimums in no time.

I saw you are doing more long XC flights and will be going into DC a lot now. Get your instrument. You won't regret it. I'm almost finished with mine.
 
Funny. I've put 22 hours in the last 3 weeks and flying to Newport News for work tomorrow.

I'm going to pursue instrument soon, part 141 since it will be mostly VA covered
