Get used to it, Obama has no intention of doing anything other than fund raising till he is out of office. And will be out there locking up airspace for two more years.

How do I get my own TFR?
I would love to have my own 30 miles of airspace.

You should have seen the freakin' TFR the last time Obama was in San Francisco. TFR's spread from North Marin County to South of San Jose. Took out about a quarter of the state of California practically.

The new TFR actually has a notch in it for a small airport. Somebody in the government is paying attention.

An unfortunately for me he lives in chicago.

Does his TFR move while he is enroute?
I assume not. But how do they protect the airspace around his aircraft when he's flying?

maybe protect is the wrong word. I guess how did they notify other aircraft to stay clear of him while they are in flight? Or is it not a concern?

He has a fighter (F-15s?) escort, I'm sure if you came anywhere close, they would force you to deviate.

I don't think "deviate" is the term I'd use. Exterminate would probably be what I would call it.

Ninety Seven today on the FAA web site, which of course we can't use for other than general information.
It's just getting nuts and there seems to be no reasonable cap on the number of these. I have two pet peeves in aviation re these: they need to be limited in number to things which truly have enough importance to require limiting our right to use the airspace, and like Fltplan.com e-mails a weather brief: we should be able to go on line, look at a list and have it e-mailed to us as proof we reviewed TFRs. We should be safe from prosecution for a reasonable period of time after reviewing that list. It's crazy that one has to call Lockmart before every flight to be on tape as having checked in this digital age.

Maybe people on here can answer me... if he's done so poorly, why is he still in office?

It seems that everyone likes to complain, but no one wants to act.

And no, I don't support him.

AF1 operates in the SFRA or a TFR below 18,000, and Class A above.

The notion of another aircraft taking out AF1 is a joke. Just hold or keep other commercial traffic at a distance. If anyone breaks that perimeter the F16's will intercept. No bug smasher could threaten or even catch AF1 even when piloted by the most dedicated jihadist.

The current TFR for Martha's Vineyard runs until August 24.
This is just plain wrong.

ATC keeps others miles away from AF1 and it's decoy(s). And the TFR is up while AF1 is on the field.

Do what? Voters inflicted this guy on the nation. And now they have buyers remorse? Too late...

It was supposed to end on the 24th. Looks like they changed it to the 17.

Because even as bad as he is...congress is worse.

It's a lesser of two evils thing and they're all evil.

I dunno about inflicted - it is a fair vote after all :dunno: not like a bad egg hasn't ever been put into office that wasn't in 20/20 hindsight a mistake.

I see it this way too. Although with the recent goings on with the airstrike authorization in Iraq after specifically saying no more when he got elected/re-elected, I have lost a fair amount of respect for him. At the same time, I don't trust the lot of the people running the country, congress or the president. Or the candidates for the last few elections that I've been old enough to pay attention to. Congress, the President, even both parties have all done some downright pants on head retarded things.

That being said, we're at low airspeed and altitude! Be ready to apply opposite rudder (or press the recover button) to avoid the spin zone

"Exterminate! Exterminate!"

Hi everyone.
Just think about it. Everywhere he goes typically 1/4- 1/2 the state's airspace is reserved and protected , streets are blocked off, businesses closed, etc., for 1 individual.
You just get close to the edge of the TFR and will likely get a couple of fighter jets escorting you out, and maybe lose or get your license suspended, if you cross that line in the sky.
Now look at the border, he is letting thousands of possible terrorists and or gang members that could kill thousands of decent citizens and they do nothing about it.
And you thought we ere all created equal with equal protection. Where did I hear that?
I forgot. TV

Congress is still the Democrats. The Senate is under Dem control. The House barely under GOP control and only since 2010.

Did you know the GOP has passed over 200 bills since 2010...all of them sitting on Reid's desk.

As if these are Obama's fault. Didn't Dumbya start these after 9/11?

I got nailed by a Dick Cheney TFR which I didn't know about. My bad, because gee I didn't get a full briefing for a local flight in California in fine weather, and even though I was on the AOPA email list for TFRs they didn't announce it either. Anyway I got a 30 day suspension, but they let me pick when, so I made it coincide with a trip to Europe.

The problem is security theater, which is now rampant in the USA. We've become a nation of actors, not doers.

199 are to stop Obamacare, the other is to sue the POTUS.

Yes, Obama got the popular vote and the electoral college vote both, unlike his predecessor.

Can you say "O.J. jury", boys and girls? :(

Ah. And here I thought he was cutting his trip a week short so we could use the airspace sooner :mad2:
Well, we do. Sometime on the 17th to sometime on the 19th. Seems to me, past TFR's shrunk to 10 NFZ after he was on the ground at MVY. Good news is I fly out of Marshfield, headed north for a Poker run out of Nashua Saturday. Should be clear outbound. Inbound might be an issue.
By the way, VIP TFR in Southhampton, NY about the same time. VEEP on the road? (8/12-18)

Odd, I don't remember anyone comlaining about TFRs when Bush/Cheney were in there. Could it be because they rarely did them and inconvenienced people? Could it be because Bush actually stuck around and did the job? Could it be because when Bush did leave DC he went to his working ranch where he had world leaders join him to do more work?

Guess so...

Oh yeah, I didn't even see that. KFOK and over Southampton. Most likely VP.

One time the VP decided to drop into Albuquerque to support some unknown democrat. Sudden unannounced TFR with no prior notice. Lots of airliners suddenly have to hold or divert, now declaring minimum fuel. A charter 1900 had to go to another airport, but then couldn't use it because it wasn't on their company list. Now he doesn't have enough fuel to go anywhere else. All the GA airplanes were simply told to go someplace else. Air ambulances were forced to take their patients somewhere else. Hundreds, possibly over 1 thousand lives in the air were suddenly threatened because this little SOB decided to have a party at taxpayer exspense which suddenly closed the airspace. Imagine what my patients family thought when I told them we can't land because the VP decided to have a little fun.

Stupid politicians aren't the problem, stupid voters are.

Maybe it's more about turning our politicians into royalty as time has passed instead of regular folks. We do have a succession policy laid out in the Constitution.

Interesting blog post by Philip Greenspun (a pilot) about the TFR and how it affects the locals:

http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/philg/...and-aviation-businesses-start-their-vacation/

The last sentence is great:
A Dutch friend asked if this pomp and circumstance was related to our English heritage. I replied that David Cameron regularly flew London/D.C. on British Airways. She replied “The Dutch Prime Minister rides to work on a bicycle.”
