NorCal Meetings Eternal page

Any fly-ins in the not too distant future?

I am stuck on the East Coast for a couple of weeks, but the weekend of 8/2 could work. I might be able to do 7/27, but that is tight since I am flying in Friday night.

Guys and gals, we really ought to do the Modesto CAF breakfast on second Saturdays at least once! They put on a fabulous spread for $6. Very nice group. I know some on this forum go.
Just got my overhauled engine started and will be in the air soon.

I can do that, though getting out of PAO that early is sometimes not possible. How are their lunches?

From e-mail I received....

Sorry for the last minute notice, but we are having a WWII Warbird Group meeting tomorrow night at 7pm.

Our guest speaker will be WWII B-24 Navigator Ryan M. O’Brien. Ryan was born and raised in Los Angeles and entered the service in February, 1943. He attended the first navigation school established by the Air Force in the 30's with a contract with Pam American Air Lines. The school was located at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. All of his training was in old Pan American flying boats over the Bermuda Triangle.

He was commissioned in June, 1944, and assigned a crew at March Field. In July his crew left Hamilton Field with a new B-24 and flew it to Newfoundland, Azores, Africa and to Italy. He was assigned to the 49th Wing, 484th Bomb Group, 825th Sq. Flew 35 missions and was awarded the distinguished Flying Cross, 4 Air Metals, Purple Heart, 7 Battle Stars, and his Group was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation.

Our Warbird Group meetings are held at the Stockton Field Aviation Museum 7430 CE Dixon St., Stockton Metro Airport, on the third Wednesday of each odd month at 7 PM. This means that the meetings are in January, March, May etc. on the third Wednesday. Please join us as there is no admission charge. We also have an annual BBQ during the meeting in September and that meeting time is usually an hour early at 6 PM.
You will find driving directions below or you can visit our web site for more information at http://www.twinbeech.com.

Thanks and I hope to see you at the meeting,

No such thing. Breakfast 8 to 11, second Saturday of each month. Pecan pancakes, eggs, sausage, beans and gravy, fruit salad, juice and, and....!

Think I'll get on the email list for these guys at Stockton. Sounds great!

The breakfast those guys put on in modesto is amazing, great group of people and plenty of parking!! Highly recommend

I have plane booked for August 9 and the pecan pancakes with honey butter at MOD are great. I haven't been there in awhile so a fly-in sounds good to me.

Watch out NorCal - the monster TFRs are back this week. Campaigner in Chief in the neighborhood again....

Between LA and the Bay Area it's an extremely disruptive situation. I feel for those whose income is interrupted by the nonsense...

I have a plane reserved for Sunday. I am probably heading to HAF, weather permitting.

Nice day at HAF. Only one other plane in the parking when I arrived and the same plane was the only plane there when I left. It was very quiet for HAF.

Looked nice. I just saw this today else I probably would have gone as well.

Any plans for the following weekends?

Wow. It was RAINING in Aptos at noon yesterday, scattered in Watsonville. I didn't think Half Moon Bay stood a chance...

I am most likely on a commercial flight Wednesday morning, heading for Massachusetts. Unless something changes, I will be going from there to Michigan and then on to Texas and will be gone a month. Michigan might get pushed, so there is a chance I will be around the weekend after next.

The weather was perfect in HAF, but the layer started moving back in around 4:00, so we left before we were stuck. We arrived about 11:30 and it had just cleared. We had lunch and then rented some bikes.

Can anyone recommend a good AME near Sac? Mine retired and I don't want some nonpilot like the last time I just winged it....
Thanks!

There's a pilot at our flight school in Davis who is also an AME and does everyone's medicals there. http://www.suttermedicalfoundation....e_plus-local&utm_campaign=local-Davis-SMGD136

I was there too! My first time as well, I thought it was beautiful, I made a video from some footage my passenger took:

What time did you go? It was LIFR when I planned on going mid morning.

I think if you want to get in VFR it has to be after noon during the summer!

That's generally how it works. I don't have a /G setup in my airplane so using the LPV approach isn't an option for me.

Then again, if I have to go in IFR, why do I want to go there in the first place.

Did we settle on mid august for fly in?

EDIT: I'll actually have the plane this weekend so if someone wants to head out somewhere let me know.

It looks like I will be back the weekend of August 9th, but then I am gone again for a couple of weeks after that.

Have fun folks. Still waiting for a new prop. Probably another week or so. They've been at Oshkosh....

Buying airplanes is tough. I just had another one fail the prebuy today.
John
I am looking to buy a little bigger and faster plane. (thinking 210 T or 210 P). I was wondering how do you go about pre buys. Seems like you have done 2 pre buys so far. Also, what is the best way to get a pre buy in a different state.

MODESTO CAF BREAKFAST this Saturday morning!
