For those that know me well, I've been taking my nieces on an annual trip the last 13 years. They now have kids and the last few year, my Daughter's family has joined with us.

We're planning on heading back to the Bahamas this year. Went to Green Turtle Cay; then Atlantis last year and really enjoyed it. My niece had a child six weeks before that trip and took Mr. Zachary along! Seven of us to the Bahamas, Harbour Island; then, I'll fly back to Florida to pick up my Daughter's family and fly them out to join us. Put it on a map and it looks as if it will be just over 6,000 miles! Had a great time last year; really looking forward to getting away again this year. The KA is just great for trips like these. Of course, a jet would be faster/higher/better, but it will give us something to look forward to (g)

Thanks Dave. I'm not flying a Citation (g).
Did all the flight plans today.

Best,

Dave

Watch out for the CBP. Other than that, enjoy the trip. I bet the King Air makes that haul a pleasant one. Living the dream indeed. Pictures/report trip appreciated when you get back!

Fort Pierce worked well for customs last year. You don't have to wait outside. You pull up, put your items on a cart and haul them in their building. In July with little ones, you don't want to be sitting in the plane. I'll have to go through there several times to shuttle folks out from Florida, then, return with two sorties.

Best,

Dave

I have flown to the same places, had a good time, many Bahamian friends there,, I am glad you had a good trip, life is what you make it, I am going back myself in two weeks, for my 79th trip there.

We're stopping at Disney for a few days after Bahamas. Today's paper says a single Day ticket for either Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park is now $96.00 for those 10 and up :bugeye: It also says single day tickets have doubled since 2003!

Of course, we're going to Orlando, not California. We called a travel agent to see if we can find any deals at Disney in Orlando and they couldn't. Seems like everything is jumping up now that the economy is on the go again. May be pushing retirement back a bit to keep up!!

Best,

Dave

Dave, I'm glad to see you getting such good use out of the plane. Even better to be taking the youngin' along! Hope it's a great trip, I'm sure it will be.

Gulfstream: it's calling your name. ;)

Thanks Ted. Don't know 'bout Gulfstream, but we're running the numbers on a Citation II (g).

Best,

Dave

Haven't checked as had no interest in the last few years, but our Costco used to sell Disney admissions for a bit of a discount off of the rate at the park.

With a big enough family, it might be worth the trip to your local Costco to see if they still do that.

(Also, a credit union I used to belong to did similar.)

Have fun, Dave! Fort Pierce really is great for Customs. We were exiting the building 10 minutes after touchdown! (Not entering the building - So figure 6 minutes for taxi and 4 for Customs, if that...)

When r u going ? We go every so often. We like Fernandez Bay on Cat Island ! Cheers
Ed

Started our trip today. Flew from Addison (KADS) up to Madison, WI to pick up the girls and their kids. Pretty uneventful flight. Flew in behind a frontal system that passed earlier today. Tomorrow, we're off to SC where we'll spend the evening, then, on to Harbour Island, Bahamas on Thursday. We'll try to post a few pics.

What's a 680?

Still and always very jealous of you and your King Air! Enjoy your trip!!

To me, a 680 is the Sovereign. :)

Have a nice trip.

Edit: Oh, this thread is old, I guess you were responding to my post.

Yes. Just didn't ask before I guess. I'm looking at the 525 I think. Have a demo flight in one when I get back from this trip. There's a 501 I can fly back at Addison which I could use for insurance coverage experience, but that won't do what I need on trips like these.

Harbour Island is fun. Enjoy the Pink Sand Beach. Valentines Marina has a Great bar and Restaurant. It is to the right as you leave the water taxi dock. Another great restaurant is Sip Sip. It is on the other side of the Island from the taxi dock and has a Beach view.

Which 525 are you looking at, Dave? 525 = CJ1, 525A = CJ2, 525B = CJ3, and 525C = CJ4.

The CJ4 is my latest "Powerball plane." (ie, what I'd want if I won the lottery or became suddenly rich via other means.) Why? It's the first single-pilot plane that has the range to make Hawaii. :goofy:

Enjoy your trip!

Sorry, was tired last night. Looking at Citation II which is a 550.
Appreciate the Harbour Island tips!

Dave, I noticed you are using Ft. Pierce for your Customs entry back into the US.

FYI - Ft. Pierce Customs does NOT open before 10 AM. So if you plan to take off from North Elurthra before 10 you will need to call another Customs facility and have them notify Ft. P. when they open. The lady at the front deck at the White Crown FBO can give you the name and number. Be sure to write down the ID letters of the customs person you talk to and the time. They sometimes Screw it up when putting your Info into the Computer. It happened to me.

Thanks Scott. I planned on leaving at 10:00 on Saturday.
Some storms on the way out: pics follow. First is out front window.

Flew to Fort Pierce to clear customs today. Very quick walk through and I was out. Went to start the plane and the right generator wouldn't come on line. No help at Fort Pierce, so, I flew to Bartow so Bill Turley could look at it. Isolated the trouble to the generator control unit. Trying to locate one now. Nieces say the new place on the island is great. I'll be in Bartow until the plane is repaired. This is where my Daughter and family are, so, not so bad.

Good thing you were in Ft P and not in the Bahamas when that happened!!!
