Malaysian Airliner missing?

Now that that's over with...

I can't imagine how angry the families must be. I just watched some video of them furious and "protesting". The mismanagement of all this information is unreal.

As I've stated before, I work with six 13KV high tension feeders. During the Northeast blackout of 2003, I had a power loss of three. I did my switching, closed tie breakers, shed load and ran our facility at reduced capacity.

We have the ability to operate on one feeder and limited capacity on backup generators.

During Sandy, we lost all six feeders which affected all kinds of equipment, including our facility Ops and Police radios, phones, cameras, etc. We were dead in the water (no pun intended) and our operation came to a complete standstill. When fire or water takes out electrical equipment, it's not always instantaneous.

Redundancy is great until you lose you redundacy:rolleyes:.

How do we know they weren't making mayday calls?
Aviate-Navigate and Communicate IF you can, isn't that the mantra:confused:

I had a night alternator failure last year (not the usual type - alternator came apart froze the pulley, and filled the cabin with smoke VERY fast). I attempted a transmission just as quick that I thought made it out at first onset of smoke while simultaneously shedding load and lining up over I-10 ... an instant later the battery blew, master off and headlamp ON. I had attempted to transmit as there were 2 CBP choppers over the threshold blocking the approach-landing.

Upto the alternator disintegrating, all gauges were normal. From first onset smoke to total electrical failure and battery loss was EXTREMELY fast (<7 seconds) and I transmitted a "PAN PAN smoke in the cockpit landing RWY 28" that the CBP guys said they never heard. When an electrical system is giving up the ghost, there are probably some surges and lulls going on electrically that are probably going to play havoc with your comms. I told the CBP pilot I know that I DEFINETLY had a green transmit light ... he insisted DEFINETLY nothing got out or they'd have gotten out of the way. You guys that think you're going to lose an alternator and have 30-60 minutes of battery time might have a surprise coming. Final note: your I-Phone light penetrates smoke WAY better than the head lamps and flash lights.

Wow! Just saw this. You make my point exactly. Glad you made it, that's scary.

Why would you radio a mayday immediately? The people on the other end are out of life ring tossing range.

Former NWA pilot just on CNN said maybe a center pedestal fire??

That would explain the acars/transponder and no radio call??

High jacked by a UFO which became a USO and now they are all living in a major alien colony at the bottom of the IO.

I'm just going to have to get up real early and listen to Coast to Coast AM to hear the real answers to what happened to this plane.

Australia checking 2 objects in search for plane.

One of the most interesting things in all of this, to me at least, is that you can put out 50% admittedly bad information, and people will still believe the other half. Why is anyone basing any theories on any "facts" from the officials?

Exactly!

I just want to know what the hell Glenn Beck has to say. He's got the answers I'm sure of it.

Keith Ledgerwood has posted a followup here on the shadow theory of his. Down near the end at point 10) c. he says:
"c. With the help of another individual, we have gotten the suggestion into Inmarsat (the SATCOM provider) to do a differential analysis of ping times between SATCOM uplink from MH370 and SQ68 for that time period. The theory being that if the two match or don’t match, it helps bring closure to the mystery. In addition, if the two pings match for multiple hours and then diverge later (i.e hour 6) we would then know that was the approximate break away point for MH370 from SQ68."
That sounds like a good idea to me.

I watched yesterday in real time as Singapore flight 68 made its way up over India and on over to Iran. The missing Maylasian plane's track is shown in Ledgerwood's first post here. MH370 was heading toward a waypoint, VAMPI, but turned back to fall in behind SQ68. The elapsed time yesterday from the point where SQ68 crossed MH370's track until it was "intercepted" by MH370 was about ten minutes. Both flights have consistent departure times historically. It looks to me that the waypoint MH370 was tracking toward served as a time delay strategy--beat SQ68 to the crossing, procede toward VAMPI until it passes behind in a few minutes, then turn and fall in behind.

I'd move farther away from that nuclear plant if I were you!

Ha ha. You should read the posts before you judge. I hope you aren't holding your breath until the Aussies retreive that shipping container, er, tail section.

I could tell where these points (in my above post) are by opening multiple tabs in my browser. On one I monitored live traffic using FlightAware centered on one of the Thai airports on the peninsula and others along the way, like Delhi. On another tab was the SkyVector track someone here posted earlier (but I deleted the leg to the Maldives). By playing with the zoom levels and marking my display with tape, I could flip between them in "A,B" fashion making an overlay effect. Quite interesting. EDIT: Note that Ledgerwood's SkyVector track in his blog doesn't go all the way to the waypoint after crossing SQ68's route. He plotted the actual track as published. MH370 makes a turn after crossing SQ68's departure route, but before reaching the waypoint, thus the built-in flexible time delay I mentioned.

Hmmm...what makes you think I was joking?

I'm serious, I'd be getting the hell out of there!

You know what's going to happen: a wing/tail/fuselage section will be found. All the conspiracy theorists will claim it was planted and the real airplane is in xxx, being fitted for a terrorist sttack. Books will be written, tales will be told.

I think it's the prescription chemicals in his water. He is downstream of a large population...

More likely the chemtrails from the secret government operation regarding mind control! :D It's on the Internet, it has to be true!;)

New sign for the street upon which the Malaysian spokesman lives reporting on flight 370?
Or the former NY rep that resigned after sending pornographic pics?

Best,

Dave

I'm just sitting back waiting for one of two possibilities: wreckage found; plane used in attack against Israel.

...I hope you aren't holding your breath until the Aussies retreive that shipping container...

It's twice the length of a shipping container. Also flight 370 was flying from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. Run a string between the two points on a globe and then swing it around to the southwest. Guess where you end up...

Somalia where the pirates will help you out disguisng it as a FEDEX plane. They keep the passengers for a juicy ransom. Mission is not over yet.

Forget about searching in the water. A plane in the water is no threat, one on land could be another 911.

OK. I give. Where?

OK. I give. Where?

Exactly where they are looking. Do you think it's just a coincidence that out of all of the vast expanse of southern Indian Ocean that is virtually never visited or traversed by humans where flight 370 could have reached before running out of fuel and where, based on that fact a search has been ongoing they find large sections of floating debris?

Of course nothing is yet confirmed but if we are laying bets my money is on this.

Are you using string or a rubber band? Kuala Lumpur to Beijing is 1700 miles, Kuala Lumpur to Mogadishu is 4200 miles.

I get the sense that finding it in the ocean rather than Iran is going to be a turd in the punch bowl for this little party.

Here's a Forbes article on Ledgerwood's theory.

Here's a link to Ledgerwood's site: http://MH370Shadow.com .

The track toward VAMPI crosses SQ 68's track at roughly a 60° angle, the same as the approximate angle from VAMPI to GIVAL making it an equilateral triangle. Once MH370 crosses the airway on which SQ68 is approaching, it would need to know when SQ68 passes directly behind at 6 o'clock. At that time, by making up to a 120° right hand turn it would be on an intercept heading (similar triangle). That seems to be exactly what they did according to Ledgerwood's plot of the Maylasian military's radar tracks.

So, IF there is a technological way to know if SQ68 is directly behind (TCAS, ADS-B receiver) and IF the departure times consistently allow this plan to work (with confirmation by phone prior to departure or a listening watch on Singapore's frequency to verify SQ68 departed within the makeable window)--then this makes more plausible sense to me than anything else I've read.

Two words:

Quantum Tunneling

The odds are small*, but not zero, that an airliner could disappear in one place and reappear, whole, somewhere light-years away.

*(And by small, I'm talking 10^-Lots and Lots...I'm not familiar enough with the math to run the numbers, but the odds are, infinitesimally, greater than zero)

Wouldn't that be interesting to be looking out the window and suddenly be looking at Sirius!
