Plane collides with skydiver

It's never a good thing when a meat bomb drops into the departure corridor of any airport. in fact the whole operations area should be off limits

The 170 pilot needs to be hung. The parachute has right of way.
The parachutist does have the right of way, but I think he should also have some degree of responsibility to try to avoid dropping on runways.

Here in Daytona Beach every other car has a sticker that says "Watch out for motorcycles". I have never seen one that asks bikers to watch out for cars. You would think that should be a no-brainer, but apparently it isn't.

i heard they both sued the airport, only in america.

What irks me is in florida many of the motorcycles have bright lights on during the day with up graded halogen lights, about runs car drivers off the road.

Far as I know, the parachutist is all healed up from his little shake up and the plane is setting in parts. Probably won't ever fly again and it was a very nice plane. I never heard of any lawsuits myself and the chuutist was more in the wrong than the pilot, but don't think his medical was current. The guy isn't flying anymore. Haven't seen him in several months. This was a grass field and the plane had been flying in the pattern doing touch n go's for awhile before the chutist jumped. He also landed on the active runway. Skydiving wasn't really welcomed on field before this happened and it probably didn't help the cause. This is a public strip but set up more like a private strip with houses along side.

The only good thing is both are going to be OK. As a wild guess I woul think either the jump plane didn't announce ,or the plane pilot wasn't listening. Unfortunately,no one wants to admit responsibility ,so therefore sue the airport.

Sadly, almost no forum software makes it readily apparent when very old posts are dredged up. There is a date stamp but it is small, not something most people look at.

The old software did a better job at date stamp presentation imo. I've got accustomed to the UI by now, but still found the old one more user friendly.

There were two posts after it from the day before my post, which I called "recent interest." Still wondering why they dug up a thread over two years old to make ho-hum comments about. Had to quote your old one just for a sense of what the thread was about.

Sorry, then. I just thought your aim was off. I truly haven't given it a second thought since the post. OK, that is not entirely true, my field has a jump operation and the LZ is in the middle of the pattern for 33, so I do think about it.
