How is Vince Neil going to pass his medical?

Are you sure that's his real name?

Vincent Neil Wharton

Damn, beaten to the punch. :D

The show has a facebook page where they mention Vince Neil. I see Grant has already asked the question in a nice PC way. I wasn't quite so PC about it myself. If you're on facebook maybe you want to drop in and ask also.

I don't see where the flight school has a SP program. They highlight the 14 PP program.

Sounds like you and Vince Neil are just a couple of outlaws.

Just try to make friends with the meanest looking guy you can find, you'll likely be out in 18 months with good behavior. No big deal.

I suppose I should mention that the Aviators TV show is a pretty good show. It's a magazine style TV show about GA. That airs on a few PBS stations in the states (as well as iTunes and Hulu). Never really struck me as sensationalistic. Though I haven't had a chance to watch season 2 yet.

Thanks for the compliment Dave. In fact, we've aired on around 200 PBS stations across the US but for those having trouble finding us on TV you're quite right in suggesting iTunes and Hulu.

Oh, and if all you've caught so far is season one, you should really try to get some of season two. We made a LOT of improvements and are really quite proud of the progression. In fact, season 2 has earned us a Hugo Television Award at the Chicago International Film Festival.

Season 3, which will include the segments with Vince, will premiere this September.

Anthony

So how was it decided to take a guy that doesn't appear to have a very good ADM attitude and probably can't get a 3rd class medical without some shenanigans and go with that?

Pilots that might have to share air space with him would like to know ;)

Anthony,
Congrats on the Hugo! I too really enjoy the show! But I am curious about the logistics with the medical.

Nope. You don't need a medical for dual instruction. I didn't get until I was getting ready to solo.

The opportunity with Vince presented itself and we thought it would be a great story. He's wanted to be a pilot for most of his life so for a guy who's lived the dream of every garage-band-rocker among us this is a chance for him to live out a dream that is already a reality to us.

Vince is really a understated guy and is progressing through his training very well. You'll have to stay tuned to see how it all plays out though. ;)

Can I be be front man for the Crüe? You can do a show about it, I'm a pilot :)

Remember it's TV. It will probably be faked. The general public doesn't know any better. It doesn't have to be real. Just sell advertising!

The Aviators is a documentary series so we're not going to fake anything. We've been called aviation cheerleaders and we're proud of how we maintain a positive spin on aviation stories.

Vince's story is one of living out his dream of flight and we're there to tell it so that hopefully we (and he) can inspire others to similarly live out their dream of flight.

No idea who this guy is but hopefully you are right!

I see only five [5] paths forward that allow Vince to live his dream. In no
particular order:

- REALLY good/expensive attorney(s) that can beat, not plead, the DUIs.

- Lie (and almost certainly, get caught)

- LSA

- Glider; specifically, motor-glider. The DA20 and HK36 are related. Some of
the motor gliders are reasonably capable; and have fewer limitations that LSA.

- Ten years of documented sobriety (slim-chance & fat-chance are `bout the same)

If he is still having problems with alcohol, my gut tells me he will soon become a NTSB stat. Hopefully he doesn't kill anyone else... again.

If I remember correctly, Anthony is the pilot of the 210 that is frequently seen on film and one of the regular story presenters. Bald, glasses, and a big passion for aviation.

I didn't mean Anthony, I meant Vince Neil.

I know he was training in a DA-20 on The Aviators.

I have watched all of the season four episodes on their web site and unless there is something they haven't put up there I don't remember seeing Vince in any of those episodes.

That dude will not be getting a medical without proveable sobriety and sponsorship. I'm thinkin......"not".

Ummmmmmm. I do have limits.

He's not a bad guy, you'll have fun, you may even give him some instruction and he'll bring some eye candy.:D SSRIs, Adivan, heroin, it's all the same, as long as you take you daily dose, you're good.

The problem is the FAA doesn't know if you took your heroin on that day or not. :yikes::hairraise:

yup, a heroin addict will get a Class III before a guy who snores and takes action to rectify it. But the system is perfect, so quit bitching.
