NorCal Meetings Eternal page

I have been on the road for work and my plane went in for annual a few weeks ago and still has a few more to go (long story). I would probably be up for renting something in a couple of weeks.

Let us know when the plane is yours (I've heard buying can get complicated). Depending on what weekend you are talking about, I can probably be there too.

I nominate Clearlake (Lampson, 1O2). They have a pretty good restaurant on field plus a lot of cool crap at the airport.

The restaurant closed and moved into town. We will need to find transportation.

Oh. That sucks donkey sausage. That can be problematic there. Particularly given that there aren't many good eating venues in town. Coastal venues, other than KLLR are generally not good options about now.

I seem to recall Mariposa (KMPI) has a cool restaurant a reasonable walk from the field.

Well, crap.

I'd love to go to KMPI; I've never been there.

But we open Funny Girl Saturday, and run for the next three weekends. Then, I'm off to KCOS (flying commercial) for a week. So, I can't do this for a month.

I might get a day or so for a local rental at KCOS, but I'm not flying all the way back....maybe take an instructor and go to KASE.

If anyone is interested the American Yankee Association is have a flyin/lunch in Santa Rosa on the 25th. Hopefully I will be there with my new Tiger (it should close this friday). If you like Grummans there will be some to see.

Does there need to be a restaurant? How about shaded picnic tables and a Smokey Joe? Burgers, dogs, sides and sodas?

I have lawnchairs and a cooler, so I don't need a restaurant. Someone bring a 182 for shade.

Unless you will buy and cook the entire meal I find the issue with this idea is the burger guy, the buns guy, and the soda guy all have to show up. In aviation, nothing is for certain. Restaurants are a heck of a lot easier than coordinating stuff.

Sorry, couldn't resist, they just emailed me about "Justin Beaver":

Sunday, June 23, 11:30am Fly to the Wild Side – We'll fly to Paso Robles to visit a pretty awesome wild animal sanctuary. In our private tour we'll get to visit lots of fuzzy friends like Dennis Hopper the kangaroo, Bacari the lemur, and Justin Beaver. Also home to majestic creatures like tigers and bears. Bring your camera!

Dear FOG Friends,
We are looking forward to a fun and busy flying month! Weather tends to be favorable in June so we thought we'd load up the calendar with great activities. There's something for everyone - take a look and join us where you can.
To sign up for any and all of the above events, add your name to the database here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FlyOutGroup/database
I hope to see you at these great events! If you have any questions, contact me at terry@sancarlosflight.com

I am back in town and will hopefully have my plane back on June 20th. I could probably do something at he end of the month, if anyone is interested.

I'm in the weekend of the 22nd, the American Yankee Assoc, is headed to Harris Ranch that day.

I'm in as well.

Is anyone going anywhere today? I have a plane for a few hours today and going to do a shorter x/c - within 100ish nm of ksac

I have to say, naming a beaver "Justin Beaver" is wrong on so many levels. :yikes:

Do you want to do this?

Do you think they would want us tagging along (is there a fee)? They are the West Valley Flying Club in San Carlos

Nevermind. Even though Justin Beaver will be there, it is almost 200nm away. Sorry, should have looked into that one first.

It looks like they have made some arrangements and there is some cost to it. Maybe we should just create our own event and not crash theirs (but it does look fun).

Fly to Paso Robles (KPRB) and meet up as a group at 11:30pm. Arrive early if you’d like a snack at the on-field restaurant LaGuardia’s Deli. Transfer to The Zoo for our 12:00 private tour. Remember your cameras, sunscreen, and plenty of water – summers in Paso Robles can be very hot!
Price is $15/person (with a $150 minimum), plus cost of the rental car. Sign up on the FOG database here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FlyOutGroup/database Payment will be due by Monday, June 17th, and you should call San Carlos Flight Center at (650) 946-1700http://sancarlosflight.com/fog-events/june-23-sun-fly-wild-side# to make arrangements to pay by check, cash or credit card.

That's actually getting fairly close to Sideways (wine themed movie) location. Nearby Santa Ynez is smack in the middle of it.

We could do Sideways role playing! John could be Miles. Kimberly could be Maya. I guess I could be Jack. But we need a Stephanie look-alike (for me!).

Oh yeah, but we couldn't drink wine. That would suck. Nevermind, bad idea.

Harris Ranch might be kind of a haul, too. Maybe Lampson, but we would have to figure out a way into town.

Role playing movie characters adds a whole new dimension. :yikes:

I've never heard of this movie, but, without looking it up, I'm pretty sure I don't want to know who Maya is.

Those who have seen the movie can attest that I'm actually being quite kind.

(John may have issues with my type casting, though!)

Yes, it was a very highly respected movie and not in Sac's usual reference material. I certainly hope I don't remind anyone of Mile's character, though I do enjoy a quality cab and also turn my nose up at merlots.

That was a fine film....mmmm....stephanie...

soo..ummm...where we going??

Didn't Kim suggest PRB?

My personal fave (so far) is O24, but I don't think that's an option for everyone.

I hear there is a good restaurant at KMPI.

2O3 is kinda nice, and not very far, but I think a picnic may be necessary. I haven't been to KUKI yet, but I've overflown it and it looks a bit too urban for my taste. What about D83?

When is this taking place?
