Reportedly landed on a dirt road, both occupants are ok and walked away.

Plane ended up in some trees beside the road.

South Florida is certainly seeing their share of crashes/incidents these last few weeks! I am glad that the occupants are ok.

South Florida has a LOT of airplanes. Surprised there aren't more crashes than there are.

I'm surprised there's a rural area inside a metropolis city limits.

R44 just went down in Miami yesterday as well.

When I think of a 152 'going down', I think of the scene from Austin Powers where the guy is chasing them down with the steam roller. "OH NOOOOO!!" wait wait wait "OH NOOOOO!!" wait wait wait "OH NOOO!"....... 5 minutes later, the steam roller finally gets there.

If you fly west of Miami/Tamiami you'll end up in the Everglades in just a few minutes.

Yes, in which case you're in "South Florida" not in Miami. I've flown that area. I've flow just about every area in the US. I still have yet to see rural metropolis.

Central Park in New York City!

Miami-Dade County is one municipality, so 'rural' Miami is often used to refer to the areas outside of the heavily populated portions of Miami itself within Dade County.

Just look out for the snakes and alligators.

Evidently a couple trees makes things rural for you.

"rural" vs. rural.

Yes, Bravo Helicopters out of KTMB. One of the owners and a pax died. Did not know them personally although I had spoken to one of the other owners re an add-on ticket about two years ago. RIP.

I'm surprised there's a rural area inside a metropolis city limits.

For example, The Redlands (and I do not care what Wikipedia says, that is what we call it)

"Redland, sometimes incorrectly pluralized The Redlands, is an agricultural community in metropolitan Miami, Florida, United States, about 20 miles (32 km) southwest of Downtown Miami."

That is just one of a number of areas that are ag but still considered part of Miami.

Not much "rural" about Central Park since they stopped grazing sheep there when it was turned into a planned park. And even the biggest open space there (other than the reservoir) would be a very challenging landing field for a fixed-wing... assuming you didn't hit a building on your way in. :D

Depends on your definition of rural. If it means that you need open space large enough to land your plane, no it probably would not. If you define it by population density based on how many permanent residents per square mile than central park may fit that definition(assuming you do not count the homeless, and muggers). My point really was more tongue in cheek anyhow and just trying to say there are many cities with large areas that are undeveloped and can be considered "rural" like in a sense.

Oh, you have roads in your rural area! How quaint! Sheesh, we have to build'em if we want roads...

I think if there are no roads, I would go with "wilderness", rather than "rural".

A PoA member alphadog flies out of a private airfield in Miami suburbs. The area is as agricultural as it gets, with patches of subdivisions.

P.S. I should've known
