I have a plane setup for the 9th or 10th. So I'm set unless we decide on another weekend altogether.

Kim, I was originally planning to go solo but your more than welcome to come along. Let me know and we can figure out the logistics.

What's the tail number?

I'm in. I plan to use coastal route out of Ccr watch out for me. I will shorten it up from your route but Similar. +2

We will have 2.66 pilots in the plane (0.66 is a post solo student) and our PCAS so we will all be on the lookout for you :)

What is your tail number? We always use flight following for our lazy bay tours so we will be listening too.

Welcome. If you PM your cell, I will send you mine, too. That way we text our final parking and where our table is, if you are running late.

Landings - up to / around 11:30

Drooling over each others' planes - 11:30 to 11:45 (or longer)

Walking from planes to restaurant - 10 or 15 minute walk as a group

Estimated arrival to restaurant - between 12:00 - 12:15

After lunch - my guess is everyone will do their own thing. I personally will base my decision on time and weather since somebody has the plane back in Petaluma at 5pm and I also have to fuel at KHAF since my passenger is 6'3" and weighs a little under 200lbs so I'm flying with less fuel than usual.

Oh and when we physically leave the airport and start walking is when John or myself will send texts to the pilots that we've moved on so when they land they know where to find us.

For those of you unfamiliar, the parking closest to the harbor and restaurants is further south via taxiways (you will most likely land on runway 30):

Quick question as I am new. I just posted a pic of me and my future mother-in-law at KHAF and I was given a message that it will not be displayed until a moderator has approved it? Is this common place???

I think you need something like 5 posts, before you can post pictures. You are half way there!

Unless your MIL is hot they probably censored it......

I guess I will post two more to make the threshold. So is anyone staying overnight in half moon bay? We are making a weekend out if it.

We are staying at the Oceano Hotel & Spa Half Moon Bay Harbor. First time staying there. Any suggestions on must see and mellow adventures?

I suggest you ask the people in / around the harbor. They should have brochures on stuff to do. I'm a local so I don't often play "tourist" in Half Moon Bay.

That's great advice. Thank you. Ok. Here goes another attempted picture post of me and my soon to be mother-in-law at KHAF at sunset, March 2012. Photo by Pilot Jen <3

Last minute change prevents my joining you all tomorrow. :(
Have fun and I'll see you at the next one. :)

Craig, are you the Craig that used to be in Tracy, took a couple canard guys to lunch downtown one time when I was looking at the restaurant for sale?

Here is some stuff that I posted on the AOPA Forum:

I'll repost those here for the benefit of those who are not AOPA members:

At Half Moon Bay, there are several restaurants and a large marina in the village of Princeton, which is right outside the pedestrian gate at the southeast ramp, or you can walk out to the beach. I especially like to walk out to Pillar Point for a nice view of the ocean, surf, and rocks. [If you're more ambitious, there are some dirt paths over the hill.]

How to find the Pillar Point trailhead:

There is also a restaurant on the northeast ramp, which is open for breakfast and lunch.

The brochure for San Mateo County's Fitzgerald Marine Reserve has a nice map. I see they have some more trails about a mile up Airport Street...

Here's the Web site for the Reserve:

Here's what's on top of Pillar Point, in case you were wondering:

Clear skies here in the valley. It is reporting clear with 4 mile vis at HAF, but that should improve. See you all at HAF.

Quick note - normal active runway at Khaf is 30. I strongly recommend not trying straight in to 12.

Also note that it is a right pattern but you should be overflying midfield to join because of the noise ordinance rules ( there's a building there you can't fly over and it's easier to just avoid it by coming in and crossing over the runway to join downwind).

That sounds like something I'd do.

I left the Tracy Airport last fall, started my own company at Stockton Airport.

I want to say thank you. We had a nice time. We look forward to doing it again soon. If you missed it, try to make the next one. Thank Kimberly for showing up right on time.:D

Gary it was 11:34 or so wheels down.

At least the weather was picture perfect (More to come later though it was a borrowed camera and a lot didn't come out):

Enjoyed meeting some of you today. What a nice day to fly! Pecan pancakes in Modesto with friends from the mountains. Seafood salad at Half Moon Bay and chat with new acquaintences - great day!!
Look forward to the next one.

PS: KHAF is socked in this evening! Flew over for dinner the other night on a full moon and it was beautiful. Guess I could have gotten stuck.....

That was really fun. Thank you Kim and John for putting it together! When is he next one?

It was great meeting everyone. I got out of there around 5:00 and it was still nice. Should we do another poll for the next one? Onwards, that was very generous of you to buy lunch! Thank you.
