I think I can do 2/9 as well. Count me in. Anyone want a ride? I'm based in kccr but don't mind grabbing one or more folks from surrounding airports.

Dates allowed? Or just pilots?

Allowed of course. But think of the concept of bringing sand to the beach.

Oh yeah, we're pilots. No beach.

I am not bringing a date anymore. Met a pilot this morning. Bringing him in the 150 instead (he's married).

I think we should plan for an 11:30 arrival. Does anyone think we should exchange cell phones? Lets park on the South ramp near the gate and meet there.

Edit: I meant share cell phone numbers (thanks for catching, Sac. I wouldn't want people to think I was coveting thier cell phone)

Actually I think I'd like to keep my own cell phone if that's okay, it's just easier to manage calls that way. But I'll text you over my number, I have yours.

Hello everyone -

Here is what worked the last two times we had a fly in:

I was somewhat "organized" in that I privately got in touch with everyone who was going. I collected from each person, all voluntary and private, the following:

1. Cell phone number

2. Email (not always)

3. Tail Number (if known. some renters have a fleet)

4. Type aircraft and colors / looks

5. Photos of person and aircraft, if desired, posted in thread so we know who to look for.

Here is the plan. John will review the weather the night before and have a pretty good idea if KHAF will work. If not, we can use the above methods to try and contact people the night before to say either the flight is canceled, moved to another location, or dependent upon a morning weather check. He / we will also update this thread.

If we agree to meet at 11:30am and have collected the above info, we can then give everyone time to land and tie down / park, and then whoever we have at 11:45 can walk over with us. Anyone not there we can text that we've already walked to lunch, in case they parked somewhere else, or drove, or arrived early.

Sound good? What do you think?

Kimberly

I don't know how they do it in other threads but I'll start a headcount:

Kimberly (plus one passenger) Cessna 150 - bright orange

The votes are up to 18 now, will we really have 18 planes? If we go to an alternate such as Little River where we have to hire / pay the "cab" (charter van) he can only take 6 people in the van and might have to make three trips which would be at least 30 minutes apart doing all that back and forth. Let's hope for Half Moon Bay since we can walk to lunch.

Just look for the best looking guy on the ramp. That will be me (or my twin brother, but he lives in SoCal and doesn't fly planes).

Prices are negotiated before the ride and I think go down the more people you pile in the van, but from memory I think it is roughly $15 - $25 one way for two people to ride the charter from Little River Airport to downtown Mendocino. Rex may chime in to this thread and let me know if that is not the case. He owns the company.

I recommend the southeast ramp (southeast of the 30 numbers) for easy access to a bunch of restaurants. They recently changed the gate code there, so be sure and look at the sign before exiting.

Unfortunately, the HAF Web cams on the San Carlos Airport Association Web site have been inop lately, but one of the cameras at Sam's Chowder House is still working. It shows what the weather is like south of the airport:

The one at Pacifica shows the weather about eight miles north of the airport:

Are you joining us?

I won't know which plane I'll be flying until a couple days before, but I'm planning to be there.

Eric, Cessna 150L, white with red, gray and blue accents. Possibly one passenger.

Sac Arrow, Arrow. Or alternately an RV10, in which case I'll have ten passengers plus a couple AIM9 missiles mounted on the wing. I'll perform an overhead break.

Man, I was just at HAF last weekend. It was stunning.

But HAF is SO close that it would take me twice as long to fly there as to just drive. MRY is also very close from one of the rentals (I've been using a 182 at WVI), but further from the other (PAO).

Hi there,

I'm new on the forums and was just at HAF last weekend, but would definitely consider going again to meet some local pilots. I'm flying out of WVI too probably the same place you rent that 182. If someone's around that would like to join me for the flight let me know. I'm not certain if I can go yet, but just wanted to say hi at least and that I'll be lurking for a bit here anyway :)

Nick

Welcome to POA! We would love to have you join us. We aren't making any reservations, so last minute is OK.

Hello POA If you fill up my van (www.obar11.com) I will charge $5.00 per person, regular its $18.00 for two. Weather today 01/29/13 is beautiful. Wish OleBlue was running, I would be with you guys.. SEE YOU SOON!

Hi,

Eric - Cessna 150L, white with red, gray and blue accents. Possibly one passenger

I have contact info for:
Kimberly
Sac Arrow
Sacbluesman

Let me know if I missed anyone. Also, if you PM me your cell number, I will PM you mine.

Are you hitting both?

I think I might John. Looks like one needs to detour south a bit to get around SF Class B without getting into San Jose airspace. SJ can get really ****y for some reason.

I want to see that RV with the missiles.....

I go to KHAF to eat at Mezza Luna and many don't know it well so want to go to other restaurants for burgers or deep fried fish.....

If you see a Long EZ there, say hello!

I'm in. Since our partnership plane is already booked for that weekend by one of the other guys, I will be coming in my club's 172, tail number 1407U.

Guess I'm out. I've been informed by the wife that we are to go to my MIL's in Santa Maria that weekend. Oh well, maybe next time.

I'm semi interested in this, don't know how my schedule is though I'll know 2-3 days before.

It would be a good idea to update the first post with all pertinent info such as time, date, location and such.

Since everybody is coming to my back yard, I guess I will overcome my aversion to flying on weekends, and make the hop over the hill.

I plan to be in a rented Cutlass, N6410V.

If my knee wasn't so jacked up I'd do a special bicycle stunna show for you all. Alas, I'll probably have to suffice with eating awesome seafood.

I'm waiting for my medical to come back from OKC and won't know my schedule until a few days before, but I'll try to make it, even if I have to *gasp* drive over the hill.

What kind of stunts are you planning involving seafood?

Something similar to what this guy does on his road bike. No, I'm not nearly that good. I can do wheelies and stoppies, but not the technical stuff he does on that bike.

Impressive, but I got the impression, due to your bum knee, you were going to put on a show at the lunch table. Maybe something involving a crab.:wink2:
