selling airplane on craigslist....

Strange, strange, never thought that I would find someone trying to sell an aircraft on craigslist. This must be the most expensive item there right now.

Doubt it. Not with that huge powerplant, unless you pull power back. Then may not do that speed.

Re: selling airplane on craigslist....

craigslist was my main source when searching for an airplane, there are multiple here in sparely populated montana for sale. I found the sellers on craigslist to be 10:1 better than the TAP/Barnstormers ones. Less BS. Use crazedlist, org for a a broader search. I've seen a Citation and a Staggerwing on there in the past few months.

I've sold dozens of homes and hundreds of acres of land on CL for far more than the asking price of this item.

Re: selling airplane on craigslist....

There seem to always be a few planes on CL in my area...

http://sanantonio.craigslist.org/for/2962157791.html
I've talked with this fellow. Seems a nice Chief.

http://sanantonio.craigslist.org/for/2948608394.html
I know the owner of this aircraft personally, and consider it a good aircraft and him a good owner. I've done his two last FR's in the plane.

I also happen to know the owner of this aircraft:
http://sanantonio.craigslist.org/cto/2918806676.html

This last one I don't know much about but it's not far away.
http://sanantonio.craigslist.org/rvs/2978950727.html

If anyone's interested in any of those aircraft, tell 'em I posted them here...

That 46 rag wing looks like it's all redone waiting for finishing touches of polish and Candy Apple accent stripes with a Stewart Systems cover... sweet. Engines in those are cheap to keep and it has the good crank mod already, you're set. Take a look, that one has a good vibe., need to find the wheel pants. The pants that go with that plane make the look completely cooler. Do the factory dark green stripe only use House of Kolors Candy Apple colors to match tint (they have a close production color) and use candy tint over polished aluminum, add accent in flip flop and micro sequin flake as small barley perceptible accents. Then seal it with I'd go with Stewart Systems stuff at this point. From what I understand it's fully compatible with the materials I plan to use. I haven't used it before, but I've seen the advertising @ Osh... and it comes with recommendation I respect so I'd give it a go. It would look sharp as and I'll bet that airframe is in perfect condition. I'm betting it's a life long TX hangar plane.

Yeah, if I had the money, I'd be looking really seriously at something like that. My only thing is that it's only has brakes on the left side, and I think that when I can afford one, I'll be trying to get dual brakes so I can use it for my own tailwheel trainer instead of leasing or renting.

Move them from left to right, a student in a 140 has no need for brakes, only get him in trouble, you keep them in reserve for the save, they need to learn to do without.

Fair enough. I was talking about the Chief... although the 140 is a nice bird, too.

A clip wing T-Craft like Duane Cole use to fly is my number one choice of the genre and the rag wing 140 my second (Can you clip 140 wings? All those light little high lift planes really fly much better with clipped wings) . Luscombe pulls a very close 3rd.

..and Duane Cole's T-Craft was built by my great great uncle - Johnny Vasey - a hell of a pilot and craftsman.

I remember watching his rubber-band powered airplanes he built that would just fly circles in his living room for amazing lengths of time.

He was always tinkering and building things...up to the day he died..in his late 90s. I have some of the firearms he built. They just don't make em' like him anymore. I wish I would have been old enough to have spent more time with him before he passed

Here he is in his later years showing off his photography skills. This was done completely with film. He loved trick photography.

Someday I hope to run into someone that has video of Johnny Vasey doing his airshow routine in the Stearman. I've been told that his signature was doing snap rolls in the stearman with nothing more then a few feet of wing clearance. He did his routine low-level up close and personal so that you could really see it.

He really did a lot of innovating and pushed the limits back then. I think he was the first to come up with a good solution for inverted fuel in the Stearman.

There's also this, a Tiger with original engine:
http://sanantonio.craigslist.org/for/2952409226.html

Dunno how people search for them though. Craigslist in my area is singularly useless for aviation. And elsewhere it's full of scams that crowd out sellers.

Even "honest" sellers on Craigslist feel justified about small tricks. There's a 1/4 172SP partnership at Double Eagle (KAEG), which I watch getting reposted with price reduced, originally at $4200. Those jokers always add tag "Mooney" to their ad. Jeez, talk about desperate.
