Farewell, Shuttle Enterprise....
It's up to you, New York, New York...
What a fabulous sight! Good guess on RWY 30 - the airport tweeted that it would be 30 at about 8 AM this morning. I knew where I wanted to be, just wondered if I could make it there from my breakfast at Tyson's in time. I was the geek that had 2 aviation radios (one on West Ground, one on RWY 30 Tower) as I was driving out to the appointed spot. I found a parking place near about 10 others doing the same thing just as Nasa Heavy was saying they would be ready in 5 minutes.... and as other airliners were asking "how long" and taxi positions where their pax could see the takeoff. Heard the TO clearance, and waited for Enterprise to appear above the trees.... here are two of a series I took. Hope y'all in NY got a good view - it should be on the ground by now.

Nice shots. I saw it fly up and down the Hudson- see my (not as good) pic in the FF forum.

One more. Just because. I like this one with the landing lights on.

Re: Farewell, Shuttle Enterprise....
Great pix!
Enterprise looks so clean and shiny, compared to the hard-used Discovery...

Very nice shots! AWESOME VIEW! I froze my ass off (45* & 30mph wind gust) for three hours at Battery Park but man was it worth it! I took video but no still shots. She got there around 10:40 and flew up the river to the Tappan Zee Bridge, then came back down. Looped around Staten Island and NJ then out to JFK. It was cool seeing this! I also saw the T-38 chase plane (only saw one). I can't wait to visit her on the Intrepid in a few months! My first trip to the Intrepid was a few years ago. It was awesome getting on the Concord

![]() Would have loved to see the landing! I remember that amazing landing of the Concord at Newark. I was working on the runway lights on the closed runway (22L) and all of a sudden, she popped out of the clouds and landed on 22R! Man I wish I had a camcorder that day

Re: Farewell, Shuttle Enterprise....
It'll deliver Endeavor to LAX, then become a parts bird supporting the SOFIA aircraft. The other SCA was retired to that fate a few months ago.

Re: Farewell, Shuttle Enterprise....
Wiki; "Shuttle Carrier N905NA will be used to ferry the retired Shuttles to their respective museums and will then be retired and used as a source of spare parts for SOFIA as well"
