FOQ NPRM - Please Comment
The comment period for the FOQ NPRM ends on April 30, 2012. Your perspective is certainly appreciated. If you have time, please comment using the following link:
http://www.regulations.gov/#!submitComment;D=FAA-2010-0100-1340 I have some serious concerns regarding this NPRM and I hope that you are able to share your perspective as a pilot with the FAA. While we all have a common goal of increasing safety, the way this NPRM attempts to satisfy that goal is certainly questionable. Re: FOQ NPRM - Please Comment
At first glance, I don't have an issue with this. Then again, I always thought both pilots should be ATP'd in a 121 operation before the Colgan incident.

The prior 1200hr 200ME industry standard that held for many decades is what got us here to begin with. Before it was compensated for with having a majority of military trained pilots where they wash them out if they can't hack it or get killed if they are freeze reactors; that situation no longer exists. The only thing that washes you out of the civilian side of training is running out of money. Making CFIs fly the same 70hrs 3 more times to make 1500hrs won't create any difference for the better. Train them as airline pilots from the go and at 250hrs put them in the right seat with a minimum 10 year captain.

Re: FOQ NPRM - Please Comment
"an approved ATP study program" is just more ERAU and All-ATPs prep BS.

So if you really want recertification, and are putting in HIMS-style energy, just use AA. I want you to get recertified. When they don't like it, you get denied, "what's the point?". |

Re: FOQ NPRM - Please Comment
It's a shame neither put together a proper program. They don't see that they are part of the problem and the only solutions they care to find are the ones that will profit them greatest which is just "An extra dose of the same old s-t".
