    Cessna Generator Troubleshooting

If you read the installation manual it says you can install a 30 amp breaker if you want or a 50, which is what the alternator can output. You have something seriously wrong if the alternator is pumping out 50 amps. Its a fairly easy install. If your mechanic is having a hard time, I would...

    Cessna Generator Troubleshooting

If generators were so great, why when I order a new 182 it comes with an alternator? My 1966 C150 logbooks how generator issues since the 1960's. Always something. Alternator conversion is simple. No issues in 5 years. Clean stable power at any rpm. No brainer in my eyes.

    Cessna Generator Troubleshooting

I replaced/repaired the generator 5-6 times over 15 years. Nothing but a headache. Let me know what money your saving as everything gets melted running 20+ volts. Alternator seems cheap compared to replacing all your avionics and every bulb on the plane. Toss the generator in the garbage and...

    Cessna Generator Troubleshooting

The best troubleshooting is to toss the generator in the garbage and put on a Plane Power alternator. This is what I did after so many generator issues. That Zeftronics regualtor failed on me and I had unregulated voltage. Modern avionics loves that........... Plane Power has been on for a good...

    EarthX STC approved!

BMS wrecks snowmobile stators. I wouldn't be the first to jump on this bandwagon. BMS shuts the battery down in the cold and you get no power. They make certain batteries now with no BMS so they work in sleds.

    Rolling a cessna

I learned Acro on a C152 Aerobat and Citabria. Cessna rolls decent for what it is. Citabria rolled way slower and heavy on the stick. My Dad used to own a C150 Aerobat. It was sold to the US and later crashed in the Atlantic Ocean by Florida IIRC.

    C150 Engine Upgrade

Its impossible to get any remotely firm prices out of anyone locally. I assume cam and lifters are all junk at this point. New bearings. Cylinders are all fairly new. Bottom end hasn't been open since 1973 so..... 2200 SMOH. I still have great oil pressure and 10-13 hours before dumping in...

    C150 Engine Upgrade

My 150 needs an overhaul soon. Not sure what to do since the price to overhaul is so insane. Glorified lawn mower engine. Leaded fuel will be done for sooner than later. I would rather put a Rotax in it.

    PA-44 down in Oregon

20 years ao, I had a student do a stall in a Seneca. He panic. Hammered throttles forward fast and one engine stumbled. I had to pull both to idle and stuff the nose down. This would have been the result. Sad day.

    Reiff vs EZ Heat

I just use a space heater with temp control and over heat protection. I keep an engine cover on and the heat low. I've been doing this for long time now. This is assuming you use a small sized heater and have room to stick it in somewhere.

    voltage slow to come up

Old battery cables will drop voltage. Clean all the terminals. I also run the Plane Power Alternator in my C150. I run at 14.0v. Same battery.

    Canada VFR Flight Itinerary

You just have to tell someone where you are going and from where. Time it will take you. I use my Dad, who has a CPL. I dont ever wander off to far these days but if you are going far, its better to file a flight plane. The air force will go looking for you fairly quickly, where an interary they...

    1966 charging issue

Dump the generator and go with a Plane Power Alternator conversion. I gave up on never ending generator issues. 5 years with Plane Power and no issues. Always charging. Always clean power. Always exact volts.
