    Tandem Aerobatic Planes

I'm biased because I own one and spent all my money on it, but I think the Skybolt is a pretty good performing airplane for the money. I was between a Skybolt and an RV4 when I was ready to buy. Found the right Skybolt first.

    Piper Matrix

Excellent first response from Russ, he pretty much nailed it. I have near 1500 hours in all of the flavors of PA46s. The PA46 really thrives at high altitude cruise, and in my opinion they kind of cut the legs off the thing by not pressurizing it. If it's what you have, it's definitely a fine...

Another IT guy lost to Aviation

Love to hear it. Great machines. I've had the privilege of flying s/n 7 all the way through the serial number range up to picking up the newest delivery from Pilatus USA in Colorado. I agree with the above for the autothrottle FMS mode...not particularly comfortable. If you ever get in a jam and...

Do I need a commercial cert?

Sounds like you're a good friend and family member. That CFI sounds like a d bag who doesn't understand that even if you had a commercial ticket, what he's insinuating describes a pt 135 on demand op, which is a great deal more complicated than just exercising commercial privileges. Fly safe!

New CFI (Me) and my Son

My old dad taught me to fly when I was in high school. Went out after that and ended up with a bunch of ratings and turned out pretty generally okay as a person and as a pilot. I'd never be where I am without him. Teach your son how to fly, you and he will treasure every moment.

    Unbelievable! Fantastic as always!

    How is the Piper Comanche?

Very under rated airplanes in my opinion.

    1969 Cherokee run up/fuel valve

My personal preference is to start, run up, and depart on one known good tank. If it quits when I switch tanks after takeoff, then I'll just swap back to the good one and go land.

    Curious about this

Tell your chief pilot that some goofball independent CFI in Pennsylvania thinks he's an idiot. I'd tell him to kick rocks and not even feel a little bad about it.

How to seaplane pilots do run ups?

    Briefly as stated above.

    KVRB Vero Beach Questions

I've never had a bad experience with Sun. CJ cannon's as mentioned is great. While you're there, see if Piper is back to doing factory tours. It's less than a five minute walk from the FBO. Lots of pilot mill training on the field there, and just about every other costal airport in Florida...

2 1/2 gals leaked out the fuel vent line

Depending on year, your POH probably has a line or two in there about parking across a slope and turning the fuel either to off, or to one tank only. From a quick google search of that years POH, I found "To ensure maximum fuel capacity when refueling, place the fuel selector valve in either...

Taking my daughter flying for the first time this weekend

Enjoy it. Some of my earliest and fondest memories are flying around with dad. He was strapping my carseat down in the thing from the time I was 6 months old, after that I would sit on books and cowl plugs to see out over the panel. I was so lucky and fortunate to grow up flying. Dad started...

    DC One-X vs Bose A-20

Unfortunately it comes down to comfort, which you can't figure unless you try them on and wear them for a flight or two. I fly a bit more than 500 hours a year for work. Pre COVID, we had Bose A20s in most of the work airplanes that I would just deal with. Excellent sound quality and noise...

My new airplane has a weird propeller. What's the deal?

I bet you're correct. Cant wait to see it - I love Comanches!

    Biplane camping in New England

Love it! Hoping to do some Skybolt camping this coming summer.

Anyone around Campbellsville KY that has intimate knowledge of Comanche aircraft. Need a pre buy.

Happy to hear you're going down the Comanche road, Bryan. It's a seriously undervalued and great flying airplane. When you get one, if you ever end up in PA I'll trade you a Skybolt ride for a Comanche ride.
