Dallas 3 March thru 8 March

Just got to the hotel. Mike, I'll send you a text, but you both still up for tomorrow? Is the Hard8 north of the field the same as the one in Coppell? What time do you guys (and anyone else in town) want to meet?

Dallas 3 March thru 8 March

Sounds like a plan. I'll let you know NLT Monday morning if I think I'm going to need a ride. It shouldn't be an issue, I don't think. Who else? Spike? Troy? Wayne? Dave? Anyone else around that night/week?

Ok, so apparently I'll be near DFW. Monday works for me. Anyone else around then (or any other night)?

Dallas 3 March thru 8 March

Who's around? I'll be in town all week for work. My days will be pretty tied up during business hours, but after COB I should be free. I'll have semi-limited access to a car (mini-van...ugh), but a terrible sense of direction, so if y'all want to meet some where it needs to be either a) on...

    Uncontrolled fields with airline service?

I used to fly all of those routes. Also BKW, RKD, BHB, and UNV/SCE. And many dozen where the tower closed before we got there at night or opened after we left in the morning.

    Voice recognition captioning?

It varries a lot. When I worked in TV news, most of our shows (especially the evenings and mornings when most everything is pre-scripted) ran the closed captioning off the teleprompter. Everything else (especially shows with a lot of live reports or live, untranscripted interviews) was live...

    Op Spec 052

RVR/reported visibility dictates whether or not you can start the approach. Once you're inside the FAF, vis reports don't matter anymore (until you're ready to takeoff - C056, if memory serves). Were you legal to start the approach? Can you now see the runway? At or above mins? Will you...

    Is every Pilo'ts Name Matt?

+1 Unless I'm in trouble with my wife or mother. Then it's Matthew. Or jackass. My son likes to call me ajdns okjko k kljh llhbvljhv ouwbqu nwpajsdb. He's seven months, so I think the "hew" still confuses him.

Forget something??? FEDEX late gear extension

220 to 1 mile final?? Even LaGuardia doesn't usually expect that!

    I flew a helicopter - and LIVED!

When it comes to helicopters and money, I don't think it's possible to exaggerate.

    I flew a helicopter - and LIVED!

If you only fly the R44 for .7. It books at $500/hr alone!

    Another interesting event at FTG

I don't know, seems that if you have to call the CFR trucks BEFORE takeoff, and still continue to takeoff, that's questionable judgement at best. I'd be curious what the FAA would say about flying something in that sort of condition.

    I flew a helicopter - and LIVED!

Ahhhh yes, I remember that now! I'd bet he's one of the only people in the country who wakes up looking forward to his daily commute. They used to be Rotors of the Rockies (RotR <--did'ya catch that bit of cleaverness?), wholly owned by a guy and his wife. Then they sold part of the business...

    I flew a helicopter - and LIVED!

That's a lot of helicopter for a daily commuter! Woops. I thought it strange that the whole place was shut down so early. Next time. I'd love to bring them out, but along with the extra time off works come a sudden and noticeable dearth of money. Once we get all settled back in we...

    I flew a helicopter - and LIVED!

Credit where credit's due! You'll love it. They'll tailor the flight to be whatever you want, but I would certainly recommend flying. You'll have to post a review/pictures when you get back (or a week later, like I did).
