    Complex/High Performance aircraft questions

Yes, 23" and 2350RPM I would expect less than 500fpm. Almost no one flies it like that.

Taking a deeper dive into maneuvering speed

Repeating the wrong definition over and over doesn't make it right.

Taking a deeper dive into maneuvering speed

In keeping in the spirit of the thread title: That's not the definition of design maneuvering speed (VA). Design maneuvering speed (VA) is a speed at which the aircraft structure must be strong enough to withstand maximum control deflection. This does include the rudder. The aircraft designer...

Taking a deeper dive into maneuvering speed

The TCDS for the PA-32R-300 indicates maneuvering speed is 125mph/109kt CAS. It does not specify different maneuvering speeds for different serial numbers. It does reference VB-750 applying to serial nos. 32R-7680001 to 32R-7680525 and VB-840 applying to serial no. 32R-7780001 to 32R-7880066. I...

GPS Direct to fix, homing vs track

Don't do it. It's terrible form and if you make it a habit you will fly an arc to your destination. Do it frequently enough and you'll never get there at all. Learn how to fly straight. Are you using your DG? Does your GPS show desired and actual track? Get on course, fly the heading that makes...

    2024 PPL written test

I think you misunderstood me. The question is not testing your memorization, since you do not have to memorize anything to answer it. I understand the spirit of your post, but the example you chose does not apply.

    DPE PPL price

Keywords seem to be "intent...schedule...planned." If I'm a DPE and intend to complete the entire practical test on Monday, and the weather is bad, that isn't my fault. Is there something else? I was under the impression there was something new.

Flight Review Required for Additional Category? Has this ever been fixed.

One would think that if, for example, a commercial pilot can exercise private, recreational, or sport privileges, then they should also be able to exercise student pilot privileges.

WTF, over? (Video of a bad landing and go around)

You referred to "statistics" you were unable to cite, so you deflected and went off into some kind of psychoanalysis tangent. I'm thinking you did that to feel better and now you're projecting.

WTF, over? (Video of a bad landing and go around)

Did an AI write that for you? I don't see any landing statistics here.

WTF, over? (Video of a bad landing and go around)

Which statistics would those be? The dude came in too fast and tried to force the airplane onto the runway. When it bounced he again tried to force it back down again. As in a textbook porpoise, the bouncing got worse and worse. Then he tried to go-around without pitching toward a climb...

WTF, over? (Video of a bad landing and go around)

You must have watched on mute because the power up for the go around was pretty clear and obvious.

    Unreported allergy shot

You're required to report physician visits within the prior 3 years. I know of no requirement to report allergy shots outside of that. And I don't think most people would consider allergies to be a reportable "illness" under Item 18.x.

    2024 PPL written test

It is a demonstration of being able to read and interpret the chart legend, which is provided to you on the test. And knowing whether a frequency can be used to talk to FSS might be important someday. Just because you can't imagine why, doesn't mean it's pedantic.

Thick black sticky residue under my wing.

I'm not a maintenance expert so I'm sure someone more qualified will chime in, but I have seen this on an old 182 with bladder tanks. Seems like a connection.

    ATP Flight School

They are known for fast, but low-quality assembly-line-like training. You pay a steep premium to buy into their "zero to hero in 8 months" (or whatever number of months they're peddling at the time — it seems to change regularly).
