How much have Trent Palmer's legal costs been?

How much roughly has it likely cost in legal expenses during the whole process from the first NTSB ALJ, to the Full NTSB and now to the US court of appeals? Honestly have no idea? If I had to guess, probably $30K?

Why GA exclusive w umbrella policies?

So I really don’t understand…..why is GA excluded in umbrella policies when it’s very clear that the risk of having one kick in is extremely small? One would first have to exhaust usually 1M on the normal policy, and that has to be an extremely rare (any one have stats??) occurrence. If you...

IMC at home is ALMOST as nice as VFR in the Southern Bahamas!!

A few weeks ago I finally got the chance to launch into some worthwhile IMC, and while not perfect, it was the best I've flown in for a while. 500 ovc with tops around 4000----give or take. In this video, I filmed from 3 cameras simultaneously, and overlayed each. After mounting 3 Gopro's I...

The impossible turn made possible---simulated engine failure from 600' with turnback

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNfgGw40Ils Flew solo over the weekend in a C172SP and mounted a Gopro on the ceiling, off to my right and just behind me, showing the panel and outside view. On departure, I pulled the power back at 600' and then waited 4 full seconds to simulate the "oh...

After a long IMC drought, I'm finally back with another write-up w/ an ILS to mins!

Its about time a posted another write-up in actual IFR:D That being said, it seems as if my passion for flying in LIFR has been watered down a notch compared to 2 years ago or more. Why? For no other reason other than water tends to find its own level. What excitement I've lost...

What is the wind speed behind prop in cruise flight?

If you are in cruise flight at lets say 2500 RPM and 110 KIAS, how would you calculate what the wind velocity would be directly behind the prop (say on the windscreen)? I figure it must be faster than the speed of the plane, but just how much faster, I don't know.

Sample letter to congress for DL medical??

I seem to remember about a month ago, someone here posted a sample letter for the DL medical propsal that went into a bit more depth than the standard form letter provided by the EAA. Specifically it talked about how the 3rd class makes pilot LESS safe by encouraging them not to seek treatment...

HD Video of the flight: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-wx44ycMtog&feature=youtu.be The forecast as early as 6 days out was hinting at a good chance for IMC for several days prior to Saturday so of course I was watching pretty much every run of the GFS, NAM and ECMWF (Euro) for most of last...

In flight video I just made. Anything I can do to improve communication clarity?

used a GP Hero 3 Black Edition to record the ATC and cockpit audio while flying the other day. Here is a link to that video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ir4gL9OzUnA&feature=youtu.be While decent, I still would like to be able to get more audio clarity in the radio transmissions. How would...

An ILS to minimums: The perfect birthday gift from Mother Nature!

For a long time, I had always wanted to say that I’ve flown an ILS to 200 and 1/2 on my B-Day. Since May 22nd is late enough in the year where ice is no longer a concern, but early enough that you still have organized frontal systems and lows passing through as well as before t-storms become...
