    Amended route, then as filed

I am an IFR rated pilot and have been flying IFR regularly for the last several years. All of my flights though have been in and out of relatively uncomplicated airspace, mostly class D and C. When listening to liveatc.net or clearance delivery I often hear the controller give (usually to...

    In Hot Water

The same goes for GE appliances in my opinion. Had a family & friends discount when redoing a kitchen and purchased all GE profile and monogram appliances. We also knew the repairman very well. He easily made 4 or 5 visits within the first year. On the Bosch note I have some friends who had...

    Wisdom Teeth

The surgeon says the implants are nothing compared to the wisdom teeth. Not really worried about, just not looking forward to it.

    Wisdom Teeth

Well, the time has come and all four of my wisdom teeth need to be removed. During the same surgery I will also be having two implants placed. Is there anything other than self-grounding until off of pain meds and report on next medical that I need to do? FWIW I hold a third class medical...

    DA-40 W&B question

Sure. Here is the POH explanation.

    DA-40 W&B question

Eight quarts are included in the empty weight. So you can subtract however many quarts are in the engine from eight to give you the "oil not added". The weight seems pretty negligible, I have never taken "oil not added" into account when doing W&B, or as Diamond calls it Mass & Balance.

    Permanent Airman Certificate

Don't quote my on this but I believe the DPE who gave you the ride can renew it.

    Cockpit Controls with Unknown Functions

Could see how that would be easy. The DA40 has something that says "ALTERNATE AIR" and then the alternate static source is under the panel. One would never find it without being shown where it is.

    Airplane Repo The TV Series

Not sure. I know the mechanic was saying many runways in Asia that have a lot of shale in them are really hard on the tires so I assume it can vary pretty widely.

    Airplane Repo The TV Series

There is a local flight department that operated a Challenger 604 for a long time and said it was a solid airplane but could no longer fly far enough with enough people for their mission. Supposedly Bombardier is absolute hell to work with on getting parts. They also did all mx in house on the...

    Airplane Repo The TV Series

I know for example one tire on a GV is $45,000. It takes one person about an hour to put the tire on so I doubt that it is all labor. I'm sure there is significant cost in making the parts but theres no way the manufacturer is not making a killing. Another example, a light bulb on the autopilot...

    DA-40 experience and thoughts?

The one I fly has a gauge similar to what you described that will let you know how much is in the tank if less than full. Usually end up getting gas all over your hands though. It seems that people transitioning to the airplane tend to over control it. I think the aileron may be heavier than...

    DA-40 experience and thoughts?

The DA40 does well with two passengers, bags, and full fuel. Three people and bags does not leave too much for fuel. The one I fly does not have G1000 so I can't speak on that. I did use it for IFR training and found it to be a very good IFR platform. Because it has such long wings you'll...
