Update: I passed the written test with an 85 today! I only enrolled in the Gold Seal online course and studied in the online section. I did also save the IFR need to know file from Gold Seal but the bulk of studying was within the online program itself. After completing the course with a passing...
One of the first planes I considered purchasing was a dragonfly. Online searching showed that it should have had a useful load around 600-700 pounds. The one we looked at was built heavy and had a useful load closer to 300 pounds. Lots of extra fiberglass resin and other heavy items got added...
I know the performance numbers and finished weight listed on many of the kit planes are optimistic at best, but I'm curious if there is an average number this is off by? For example, the info for the Bede 4C shows an empty weight of 1250 lbs but I found one blog of a gentleman that built one and...
Definitely this!
When I was searching for a plane I was blissfully unaware of how banks finance planes and assumed that because I could get a loan for a $90K vehicle at the drop of the pen I'd be able to get a similar loan for an airplane. That wasn't the case, I was turned down for airplane...
105 in a Tri Pacer? My Colt typically cruises at 100 mph at 2400 RPM with a smaller engine. I would imagine the TriPacers larger engine would get it moving a tad faster. Its only 6 inches longer if I'm not misataken.
Thanks, I already downloaded that one and have it in my binder to study. I've already enrolled and am slowly working through the first section of the training in an attempt to let it soak in instead of trying to power through and risk forgetting anything when it comes to test time.
Getting ready to start my instrument training and right now there is a 80% chance I'll be using the Gold Seal instrument online ground school.
Other than purchasing the online course, what else is needed? Will I need to get additional books, tools, calculators, etc...? I've still got the E6B...
SSF looks like it could be a good airport for sure. Busy airspace doesn't bother me. I'm just outside of LAX and depending on the route of flight I either get crushed with traffic or end up in no mans land.
It is time for me to start thinking of my next set of military orders and I'm curious how difficult it is to get hangar space in the San Antonio, Tx area. It looks like there are quite a few airports and airparks surrounding KSAT but I know that an abundance of airports/airparks doesn't mean an...
We got a deal on the Pro Max Aspen that we couldn't pass up. Synthetic vision, altitude and minimum callouts, ability to have more than one nav source on the HSI, and Nexrad weather.
