I’m in the same situation. My AME said calling the RFS doesn’t do anything. My numerous calls have done nothing.
How do we push this up the chain of command (if there is such a thing in this case)?
I’d like to see an automatic approval after the 60 days they say it should take to review and...

As long as getting a 3rd class is no issue, no reason to change IMHO.

The pro to basicmed is when the FAA starts asking for yearly/costly stuff your doc says aren’t needed and is willing to help you manage, and sign off on the form.
Absolutely request a different approach - citing your need to stay close to land. I’ve done that on departure clearances as well.
You can also put ‘no over water beyond 2 miles’ (or whatever you want) in the comments when you file.
Never accept a clearance you don’t like.
Endorsements are under Instructor Tools…. You can have the instructor sign in the app and the record is locked. To unlock you have to remove the endorsement.
That is what we do - use the same card for PFD and MFD. Top one is where the new info goes. I think the bottom card just stays put. It has been a while since I’ve done it …
If you lose the magnetometer, the HSI should revert to using the GPS track. It is not a heading but pretty close except in high crosswinds…
Loss of all electrical power is extremely rare. Losing an alternator is certainly a risk, but just puts you on the battery for as long as it lasts…

You can log whatever you want, however without a panel mounted gyro instrument (TC, T&B, Attitude gyro), I doubt any real audit would find that time legit as ‘flying by reference to instruments’
Check with the DPE before counting on that time for any additional ratings…
