    The death of an insitution

This thread has been great for me. I grew up in scouting and am glad I did. But I had no clue that it was so closely associated with churches! In our area dens and troops were exclusively attached to schools. Major TIL moment for me on that one! Travel sports probably have some effect, but...

Foreflight Lightning is Broken - Need Help with Escalation

Looking at older threads, I guess he was a founder! And last messaged here coincident with the sale to Boeing.

Foreflight Lightning is Broken - Need Help with Escalation

CodeMonkey works (or worked? it's been five years since they logged on to poa) for foreflight.

Under insured and sweating a little bit..

Two people have said this now, and I'm still very surprised. What difference should it make that my declared value is? There are lots of scenarios in which my insurance might be very different from the value of the plane. 1) I have no insurance because I'm a big grump who thinks insurance is a...

[NA] Is AI going to end actual musicians?

Yep, close enough. Because, yeah, the rigidity of the formulas varied over time. The filter of time matters. The filter of how music gets distributed today definitely matters. Lots of variables.

[NA] Is AI going to end actual musicians?

You can tell a lot about a person by finding out if they think that world is going to be a paradise in which people can pursue their interests unfettered by having to work for a living, or whether they think it's going to be a dystopian wasteland where only the elite can afford food.

Three of the most famous notes in music... (Starts at 3:45, which doesn't seem to be working after POA link mangling)

[NA] Is AI going to end actual musicians?

The only pushback to give on that is the word modern. Going back hundreds of years you can tell what era a lot of the music is from because it sounds like the other music of that era. There have always been formulas, whether it's baroque, rockabilly, hair metal, kpop or the entire generation of...

Is Dan Gryder the biggest asset to aviation on youtube?

Yeah, there is no "good" system. Only the least bad one. No spouse should have to raise a child without the owed support payments and levers to get them seem appropriate. But it's also hard to see how that spouse/taxpayers/society/america benefits by putting people in jail that don't have the...

Is Dan Gryder the biggest asset to aviation on youtube?

It's probably like driving suspending in Ohio. I was listening to a podcast (Serial) last night about the Ohio justice system and they said that suspending drivers licenses for things unrelated to driving (e.g. child support) was a common practice because it's really hard to survive in Ohio...

Is Dan Gryder the biggest asset to aviation on youtube?

The latest on Gryder. The comments section is astonishing. I don't know how anyone can still respect him.

How much have Trent Palmer's legal costs been?

Sure you can. He's making an argument on how to improve things in the US. Naturally that argument wouldn't be to take the bad things from other places and implement them here. It would be to take the good things from other places and implement them here.

Okay, so what would a low-cost airplane look like?

For multiple builders I've met, it's because they don't like, in one case hates, their day job and are trying to get away from it and do something they enjoy. Not everyone is living a life only in pursuit of maximizing revenue.
