Amazing save in a Grumman AA-1C

This one seems cut and dried- but there's always a minuscule possibility it's a huge coinkidink and not related. If I popped the cowling and that plug was missing or hanging by the wire, there would have been no talking with the A&P. I'd be in jail for assault, or worse. Good on the OP for...

    F35 down

^^^ My initial thought as well, we'd typically go "there" when an aircraft goes down shortly after refueling. But then I wrote that off rationalizing that CERTAINLY the fuel would be checked before filling the tanks on a 9-figure stealth fighter... Or not.

    F35 down

Pilot ejected. Bravo variant...as was the one that infamously went down last September after flying for many miles after the pilot ejected (Anyone seen our fighter jet?), as was the one that was in hover mode and bounced with the pilot ejecting in 12/22. This one had reportedly just done a...

    Beech V35 Midair Breakup

I found the part about the precise balancing of the ruddervators- even after painting- interesting.

Singapore B777 (Flight SQ321) PAX Killed in Turbulence

Question: Carrier stated the aircraft lost 6k feet in two minutes. Seems a 3,000 fpm planned descent wouldn't have produced this outcome. So assuming it was abrupt wind shear, this couldn't have been overcome after the initial slingshot that put heads through the overhead bins? Or was it...

    Beech V35 Midair Breakup

I get that- which is why I qualified with "assuming no evidence of over-stressing the airframe exists". It hadn't been clarified that the documented past break-ups are all apparently due to exceeding design limits, which from what I've read here is easier to do than in many other GA planes.

    Beech V35 Midair Breakup

New guy puzzled... With cases of failure (as indicated by others here, no personal knowledge) documented- assuming no evidence of over-stressing the airframe exists- why is this model still certified to fly?

    Beech V35 Midair Breakup

https://nypost.com/2024/05/16/us-news/three-killed-as-nashville-plane-breaks-up-in-air-scattering-debris-over-half-mile-stretch/ Dad and both his kids set to graduate college. As horrible as it gets.

USAF IP killed at Sheppard AFB

My son's a T6 IP...happens to be visiting home on leave this week. I asked him (when momma bear wasn't around, and hopefully she doesn't come across the news report) if he had heard about it yesterday, of course he had. There were issues with the explosive charges that grounded much of the...

    Multiple Recent ATC Errors...Why?

    Multiple Recent ATC Errors...Why?

@ ethanb Guess I'm missing the humorous take on this topic?

    Multiple Recent ATC Errors...Why?

Streak of bad "luck"? Result of FAA DEI hiring requirements? Something else? What say ye commercial passenger and cargo aircraft pilots- have you noticed a deterioration in the skills of the ATC you deal with on an often daily basis?

    Final out on N928JP

Seems unbelievable to me that this condition even exists. Was the airport/runway there before the stacks were built? Who in the hell would think that tall stacks barely 100 ft. below the approach flight path and directly in-line with the runway is OK??
