Vision jet goes for a swim

All Velocity's are free castering nose wheels. I started designing a steerable nose gear for mine but gave up. I had a similar event with mine while on rollout from landing. Right brake failed and the plane gradually went off the left side of the runway. Missed the the lights and ended up...

    Hearing Mayday Call

I've flown over the area more times than I can count. One of the few places where being over water may be better than being over land. Until you get well over 20nm inland, it's all swamp and pine trees.

    Hearing Mayday Call

Looks like he was trying to turn back to Wakulla. That's an area without a lot of options if you have engine trouble. At night makes it worse.

    210 down in Sydney

Flew it all the way into the crash. Keeping the gear up probably allowed him to make it back to the airport.

Is it me or Cessna 182s just went up by $30-50K in the last 1-2 months?

Cherry picking much? Here's one for $179k with 100 SMOH. https://www.trade-a-plane.com/search?category_level1=Single+Engine+Piston&make=CESSNA&model=182Q+SKYLANE&listing_id=2430694&s-type=aircraft

Coastline Sightseeing Flight out of KECP - Northwest Florida Beaches

I've done the flight from Panama City to Mobile along the coast many times. Sometimes I check in with Tyndall first. Other times I just call up Eglin before entering their airspace. Never had a problem.

New device increases safety for general aviation pilots

I would like to see the statistics that back this claim up. I don't recall seeing a single accident report with "Probable cause of accident: Pilots failure to determine height above the ground"

    Ugh. Had to book airlines...again.

When I was traveling for work, I would always get a "provisional" ticket if the distance was too far to drive. Provisional meaning that I could change it for a minimal or no fee. As soon as I was confident that I could fly myself, I would cancel the ticket and use credit towards the next trip...

How much space to build a plane (rv14)

The first two sentences of their post was: I sat in an rv14 and am considering ordering one. I have plans to go to AP school in August, goal to become IA to work on and sign off my own plane. There is absolutely no mention of a "Plan A" or "Plan B". Only that they plan to go to AP school and...

    Windows 10 Help

It happens. I've got a couple clients that still are running Windows XP because of software won't run on anything newer. Up until about 3 or 4 years ago there was one that still had a Windows 95 machine for the same reason.

How much space to build a plane (rv14)

If you build it, you don’t need an A&P or an IA for anything. If you buy a completed plane, you’d only need an A&P for the conditional inspection.

    E/AB final weight?

No. The kit manufacture could probably provide some information about this. I know that my Velocity came in at 1,874 lbs. One of the factory built planes came in at 1,670 lbs. I know another builder's plane weighed close to 2,000 lbs. There is a tendency for builders to add weight by...
